I mean I think there would be but I also recognize that we shouldn't have to always draft Olineman in the first. I'm all about building an elite offensive line. It's the best way to consistently dominate on offense.

What I don't think is a good return on investment would be a TE.

I think a TE would be much more impactful if the player is very good.

There are what like 3 or 4 actually impactful TEs in the NFL? I mean if the guard we draft is the next Zach Martin it would be pretty impactful too.

But in all seriousness the Oline is what makes the run game. And frankly Dak sucks with pressure in his face. You give any QB enough time and he will complete passes. I think a dominant interior Olineman can be pretty impactful. Of course it's all about the unit. You can have a stud Olineman but if the other blockers suck it doesn't matter.

Exactly.

Since our mentally delicate QB needs an uncluttered pocket to function, we have to elevate linemen to another level.

I mean I think he needs an uncluttered pocket more then another solid TE. If we are talking about Dak, that's the way I lean in helping him. Plus getting positive yards in the run game more consistently helps every QB. And a badass LG helps with that.

But I like Mafi to help with that. You don't need to take guards in the first. You just have to look for the right guys. Find power and less finess.

Mafi is a bull. Not real refined but he would be a great pick in the middle rounds.

That's what I'm saying. I'm guessing the offensive line will be good either way. In theory you'd be trying to upgrade Tyler Smith.

Yeah I'm operating under the assumption that what they are telling me is true and that is that Tyler is staying at LT where I think he played best. I've got my LT for the next 5+ years.

I'm not going to say it's stupid because I thought it was stupid last season when they cut Collins, and when they shuffled Tyler Smith around, and I thought they reached for Tyler in the first place. So my track record isn't good in the last year.

That said, I think the move is Tyron / Tyler/ Biadasz/ Martin/ Steele. I think that makes the most sense.

Regardless, I think getting your best 5 on the field is the right call. And this is why I probably wouldn't go guard in the first. I think one way or another these are your 5. If you take a guard in the first one of those guys goes to the bench but you're not that much better.

I agree 100% that it is stupid.

They are just trying so hard to force Tyron onto the field when we have a couple of excellent young OTs. That's really what I think is stupid. I hate how they feel thr need to screw with their two best OTs because they have a loyalty to Tyron. I'm of the thought, let Tyron just be your swing. He is perfect for it and reduces his chance of injury dramatically.

He would be a hell of a good swing. I don't think he is a better better RT than Steele or a better LT than Tyler. So why jack with the two most important positions on the Oline?

everyone gettin in on the podcast act.
