I don't put much stock in this list. Just because it's a free visit and these are usually day 3 type guys at best. We will pluck some as UDFA but it doesn't mean much in terms of what or who we will draft.

Now the 30 visit lists, that generally telegraphs a lot of what we do. So I'm excited for that.

The Dallas Day group typically will have a few of UDFAs in it.
 
I kind of think it's more that so many WRs happen to be small this year. McCarthy has mentioned the classic WCO receiver being bigger.

But i do remember thinking at the Senior Bowl (or combine?) that Dell was really quick and got a lot of separation. I didn't know at the time he was that little, though.

I wouldn't say McCarthy is trying to run a classic WCO. I think he is working hard to evolve the offense. But a big part of the WCO is slant/flat route combinations. Slants are meant for big receivers but the flat route that is part of that combination works great for smaller speedier guys. So I think there is some misconception there.

I don't think they see a problem with the offensive design as much as situational playcalling.

So in terms of offensive "evolution", things will like similar with minor tweaks.

That is the way I see it.

Let's be honest here, McCarthy is not crafting some whiz bang offense when everything he conceptually relies upon was built in the 1950s and Walsh refined it.

Maybe he reinvents himself like Andy Reid did, but I doubt it.

There is one thing about McCarthy is that he really doesn't have a vast network of support to draw from. Most of his long-time assistants never followed him or aren't even in the league anymore.

That was obvious when he was hired, despite his claims he watched every damn minute of everything and had himself an incubator of coaches, that he was more talk and had the Lombardi as his clout.
