Sometimes a return man is just a return man. But when we basically had no weapons on offense you would think they would at least try some plays where they get the ball in his hands and see what happens.
This kid did more stuff at TCU than returns. He can be a weapon used sparingly and not just this end around BS.

Yeah I mean I'm not sure what he is capable of. If we had any weapons at receiver outside of Lamb I'd have a defense for not using him more on offense. But we really had nothing. You'd think you would at least try some bubble screens with him or let him run some of those patent hook routes.

I lost any enthusiasm I had for Turpin by the end of the year. His fumbles were starting to get alarming and his returns were nice but nothing special. I don't have much confidence that he'd have accomplished much in a bigger offensive role. His size is a real problem. Despite his speed I don't know that he'd be suited for more than a gadget role because I'm not sure he'd be able to get off the line cleanly and I don't know if his route running is particularly sophisticated. And given his special teams fumbles I'm not sure you can trust him.

All that said, it would have been nice to have tried him more throughout the season since we were so thin at receiver. Just to see because you never know.

But going into the offseason I wouldn't have any thoughts whatsoever that he could give us anything offensively. Just get real players and stop trying to go cheap. If he gives you anything on top of that it should be a bonus not something you counted on.

he is definitely a return game weapon, fumbles notwithstanding. I think he can correct that issue.

As a potential receiver, he's a shifty version of a Beasley, Amendola, Edelman, Welker type dude.

I don't think he's anywhere close to any of those guys

I totally agree. I view him probably the same way I do Tolbert. He will be on the roster in camp and if he gives us anything on offense that's awesome. I'm not counting on it at all though. In the offseason I'm viewing WR like neither guy adds anything. Hell outside of Lamb right now, I'm not sure I view any of our receivers as adding anything next year. I guess Gallup still has a role. But I'm not viewing him as anything more than like a third receiver who could rebound to more of a second. Kind of a scary proposition to start the offseason with.

today. But could he be? I see potential. Hes already skilled at the return game.

That's the thing though. Those guys could get open through their route running and savvy.

Maybe Turpin can get to that point but I don't think we've seen it to date. He just strikes me as a gadget guy that you have to scheme and misdirect to get him the ball. Closer to Lucky Whitehead than Wes Welker.

What can Brown do for you?
