Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

He was great, but he would have gotten too many hands to the face penalties playing now.

You can remove the 1991 part of the title

Darrell Green NEVER had an answer for Michael Irvin.

Mike had battles with Aeneas Williams, Bobby Taylor, etc.

But with Green? There was no contest.

Mike did whatever he wanted vs Green each and every time they played.

Darrell Green in general was an overrated player. I don't ever recall him being a lockdown corner.

Green was awesome but had limitations vs a uniquely both physical and great player like Irvin.

I remember him in his 16th or 17th year holding Randy Moss in his prime to pedestrian numbers.

Guy wss easily the fastest player I’ve ever seen on the field. Faster than Ron Brown, Willie Gault, Deion, you name it.

He made 4.3 Tony Dorsett look like he was standing still catching him from behind. Caught Eric Dickerson from behind even with a huge lead.
Single handedly beat the Bears in their prime in their house even while breaking a rib mid-play.

Rock solid off the field too.

I would have loved for that guy to have been a Cowboy

Fuck Darrell Green.

Romo leading a comeback SNF 2015 opener vs the Giants without Bryant after shitting the bed with turnovers.

1. Out of the following, who do you vote to go into Ring of Honor
  • Bill Bates
  • Harvey Martin
  • Too Tall Jones
  • Ralph Neely
  • Daryl Johnston
  • Nate Newton
  • Everson Walls
  • Erik Williams
  • Charlie Waters
  • None of above
NOTE: Witten and Ware are obvious, so excluded from this list

2. To induct the above player into RoH, you have to replace an existing ROH player. Would you do it and, if so, who would be replaced?

Yep, Harvey for me, too.

Sorry to the old timers, but remove... Don Perkins?

I may have to see if this is available at my local library.

You don’t want to proudly display it amongst War & Peace, Little House on Prairie, et al in your home office bookcase for your zoom background?

How much gas money is it round trip to your library? Just buy it used for $8 next year on eBay.

Tim Cowlishaw talked about this on the Ticket for at least 10 minutes today. A lot of it we've already heard here and there, but still pretty fascinating about when Jimmy started to leave, even crying at his house (which is hard to picture), Jerry's role, etc. Tim and Werder were actually in the room when that happened, and Tim and Jimmy were drinking buddies at least once a week. (First time I'd heard that.)

One thing, Tim says Jerry didn't by any means just push Jimmy out like so many still think. Jimmy wanted out and was trying to work the situation to get out of here.

But they all agreed that this book probably means Jimmy doesn't get in the ROH as long as Jerry is alive because it's pretty unflattering. I guess this was written after that live Fox shot where they sort of boxed Jerry into agreeing to do it. They said Jerry didn't appreciate being ambushed like that on live TV... which seemed pretty obvious, but I hadn't heard that confirmed before.

Yeah, Jimmy wanted out. I recall he had his name out there re: some vacancy, right in the midst of the second Super Bowl of his tenure.

Although Jerruh doesn’t seem like he was pressured live into the ROH announcement, it’s funny to believe so. Whatever… FU, PT Barnum :lol

May the ROH ceremony occur the same day as Jerruh’s funeral.
