Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

I think Cleveland/ Baltimore did it right.

Tennessee with Oilers throwbacks seems ridiculous to me. I doubt anyone associates the Oilers with Tennessee or the Titans.
I wonder why Modell had to leave "Browns" behind but Bud Adams could take "Oilers" with him. Maybe they knew Cleveland wouldn't be without a team for very long.

Good question.

Houston wasn't without a new franchise very long either though, and it seems obvious it wouldn't have been given the size of the city.

Tagliabue and the league intervened and guaranteed the Browns would retain their history and would be next up for expansion (which landed in 1999). No one wanted another Colts situation, even Art Modell.

Houston is really butthurt right now because the rumors are that the Titans are going to wear Oilers throwbacks this year.

I seem to recall an unofficial logo that merged the state flag and the original Oiler one too.

Yes, correct.

It was like the original Oilers logo with some little stars around it or some shit.

EDIT

God Bless Google:

This amazing OL was built from multiple UDFAs, castoffs and journeymen, two 3rd round picks, and a converted DL.

A great coaching staff, chemistry, and brilliant skill players made it work.

You don’t need a bunch of high draft picks up front.
When you have an all-timer coach who beats his overweight G/T in a footrace to motivate him to lose weight, it provided not only that motivation, but also inspiring leadership for the entire team to work hard towards a common goal.

It also helped that OL to be blocking for the NFL GOAT RB, but it took great mental toughness to face Clyde Simmons, Reggie White, and Jerome Brown twice a year.

We knew how to coach toughness back then. With these soft practice rules, it might not be possible any more.

Yeah, hard to see it happening again anytime soon.
