Cowboys Nostalgia Thread

You're gonna be adding Dak to that list when it's all said and done. He will play here x number of years and win nothing of consequence.

With respect to their legacy, out of Meredith, White and Romo, if you could gift one Super Bowl win, who would you choose?
Romo. Fuck I hadn’t realized how much even imagining giving a ring to the Joneses makes me I’ll.

White had some talent but got too old before getting his shot. He lacked the moxie to get it done and then his talent rapidly faded. Supposing he holds onto the football in San Francisco, somehow gets a first and Septien drives it home— would White have beaten Ken Anderson in the Super Bowl? Remember we were only IN that game because SF had 6 turnovers. Offensively we had a shite day.

Meredith had moxie in spades but maybe not enough talent.

Romo lacked high end arm strength, but was a way better QB than either of the others. I only wish he had matured faster.

White. Unlike the other two, he had big shoes to fill.
It seems like Romo had “the legacy” to fill though. The weight of 5 trophies and expectations of more with terrible football guidance. So much hung on him, Ware, and Witten. Terrible

I absolutely believe this.

And it is not really anything on Prescott. If Trent Fuckin' Dilfer can win a SB, he is capable.

Way too much garbage between Troy and Tony for him to feel any "legacy" pressure.

Fuck Tony Romo.

That cunt came into the game and scored some famous trim during the process.

I don't think he felt any degree of "legacy" to uphold. He never embraced that aspect of the position.

He was a side hustler. A pimp. But when it came down to it, he was a yip golfer and now that fuckin' guy is getting paid to pimp golf.

I have zero romantic feelings about the Romo era.

Whites situation was very different. Though he inherited big shoes to fill, he also had practiced and punted in the same system for 4 years before starting for good.

He also inherited a perennial contender in its prime and failed miserably to get over the hump.

Sorry but Danny White was a nice guy who though he got his chance late, he had every opportunity to make it work.

Romo had a front office that thinks the defense should be built only with CBs, smallish edge pass rushers, and rehabbed LBs because the passing game is popular now. They had no idea how to find let alone develop a QB until Bill and Sean got them Romo and unfortunately left him just as he was getting started.

A case could be made the 1980-1983 Cowboys did not win a Superbowl because of Danny White. He legit had multiple shots. In a row.

The only way Romo could have won a Superbowl would have been to be magically gifted one. The supporting cast was being built around an image with hype, relevance, and money being the bottom line.

And I don’t care if he scored big on the side. Danny White was booking up with cheerleaders and God knows what else while Roger was winning a Superbowl.

Romo left the game beat the fuck up. You can’t say he didn’t give it everything he had. White just faded one day in 1983, all semblance of confidence lost.

Snapping the football in that Washington game with the season on the line and his team still with momentum— ultimate choke job.

Romo dropping the wet k-ball in Seattle, that shit happened to multiple teams that year with that same stupid issued football. That wasn’t Romo choking, not even close to what White did.

Not necessarily. He also played under Parcells and Wade.
If it's specified it comes under Parcells I might can on board, but even under Wade it gives Garrett one as OC/HC in waiting

I dont agree with the level of vitriol, but I give this take its props.

His best teams should have performed better, his era leaves me disappointed.

I very much like Romo but he was a roller coaster. By the time he sort of settled down the roller coaster ride his body was giving out. By the end it wasn't a question of if but when he would get hurt. I don't know that I feel bad for him ultimately though. It kind of feels like his bond headed stuff is what sunk the opportunities he did have. But gosh he was fun to watch at times too.

White was the ultimate tease. He would pull out gutsy wins, and then have head scratchers. Last memory of White is poor Landry yelling “Nnnoooooo Daaannnnyyyy” as he shit the bed against the Niners.

Sure, White had his share of fucktard moments.

I believe my first rage at a professional athlete was him.

The fumble that ended the game.

This ended the game. Not the motherfucking "Catch".

Bitch nailed Drew Pearson in stride in what basically was the Alvin Harper catch before it actually happened.

I held a grudge against White for a bit.

Then I saw Gary Hogeboom.

I don't know what the fuck witchcraft he spun on Old Man Tom, but jeez.
