Damn you Jerry just let him go
Good lord, man.
Jerry and his ole glory holes.
I hate Pittsburgh...You’re still under the Garrett spell. I figured it might take some folks a while before they moved on . Just think of McCarthy as a Pittsburgh dude, a blue collar Pennsylvania guy
And, neither of them like that flavor of pie, so...I think that the team could find a role for both Witten and Bryant, but it would require both being served a big slice of humble pie.

Dez can say that all he wants. It doesn't make it any more believable. For his part, Dez is at least saying that he would be amenable to such a role. But everything I am hearing and reading about Witten says that the opposite is true with him. And circumstances last year show that to have been the case and why I tend to believe it.

not to mention a blown achilles and a 2 year layoff. Just no, dude. Stop now.Yeah I just don't see the value. What's his role, fourth or fifth WR? Is he going to play special teams? Use him in goal line situations only?
I have serious doubt about his speed and explosiveness still being there and I don't think he has ever been a crafty and technically sound WR. Just draft one, makes way more sense.
I believe him. He has not been in the league for some time now. I bet that has humbled him some.Dez can say that all he wants. It doesn't make it any more believable.

Agreed. Give him a contract we could get away from if needed, and I wouldn’t be against giving him a shot.My opinion is this:
He would be a specialty, niche, possession receiver, with a defined role in the offense. He would come in for those 3 and 4 WR sets depending on the situation, and then specialize in one-on-one and red zone matchups.
Speed was never his game to begin with, it was always about physically out-muscling and outplaying the guy lining opposite of him. And going up and getting the ball when it cam his way vs the other guy getting it. That style of play didn't always work when he was your #1 receiver going up against their #1 corner, especially later in his career.
But Dez Bryant now lined up one-on-one vs the other guys' 3rd or 4th corner or safety? I'll take my chances with that matchup.

Speed wasn't his game but that doesn't mean his game doesn't require some level of explosive ability because it does. IF he can't jump as high or get even the small amount of separation that he used to his game becomes useless. There are a lot of guys in this world that can't run or jump but have good hands. So he still needs that explosiveness even if it has never been elite. Although I think he used to be more explosive than maybe some give credit.
I just don't see the point. Which is compounded by the fact that he never had a good connection with Dak and has a tendency to be a bit of a problem when it comes to showing up for team meetings and things on time. You can't let anyone get away with that, it sets a bad example.
Especially when it's the fourth WR doing it as opposed to your top guy.
Dez would basically be a non-blocking TE at this point, assuming he's slowed down even more than when we last saw him. A big slot possession guy who you target in the 10-15 yard range and the red zone.
If he's willing to play 20-25 snaps a game and not run around all game jaw-jacking like an idiot then I'd be open to giving him a chance, but there's no way I'd keep him around if his attitude is anywhere near what it was when he left.
