Stupid ass penalty. Get Sam Williams off the fucking pitch!

This would only be the second ever knockout round win. Wow. I assumed that number would be higher.

I thoughts thats about where we would have been. We just dont emphasize and put the resources in the sport. Dont attract the athletes after youth soccer.

It has been getting better I believe and if somehow we can get the transfer portal here we could entice Haaland and Mbappe to come over that would (the answer is impossible I know) be awesome.

It's because the knockout round used to only be 16 until this year, which usually means we'd have to beat someone like Brazil, Germany, Spain, etc. in that first game.

So of course now that it's 32 that first game is easier, and we have an easy enough draw in the round of 16, but if you look at the rest of the bracket it's mostly teams comparable to us (Mexico, Norway, etc.) playing teams like Brazil and England.

Looking forward to Sunday. Norway/Brazil and England/Mexico. I couldn't tell you more than 2 names total in those matches but its been fun watching the games when I can.

I dont know why I dont keep up with this sport but I think I might try. Who does Haaland play for professionally?

For anyone that might be wondering we play next on Monday at 8 central against Belgium.

The review official (separate from the official on the field) who flagged it for a recheck is from Venezuela, probably a big Maduro guy.

Yeah I don't watch soccer regularly by any means. But that seems extremely punitive for accidently stepping on a dudes ankle. The still frame makes it look intentional but when you watch the entire play it was very clearly not intentional. In any other sport and I'm not just talking football, those happen all the time and it's kind of just part of the sport.

Anyway, I did watch the game because my kids love soccer for some reason, and it's USA. But that red card and the penalty that comes with it kind of taints the sport for me. So subjective and is so punitive to a team. In a game of even closely matched teams you can easily manipulate the winner with a red card like that.
