I agree with this wholeheartedly.

What I do not quite understand is how this became a zeitgeist.

You would think, logically, this would have manifested itself when I grew up as the wounds were still somewhat fresh. Using racism as a crutch for avoiding individual accountability really was not a thing.
 
Far as I know, they refused to hand her the diploma after her twerking spectacle.
I looked it up. She did not receive her diploma on stage. And they removed her from the building as soon as she crossed the stage. Good. And, it's also being reported she bragged she was going to do it and was warned what would happen if she did. She deserved what she got.

Apparently you do not understand nor appreciate the cultural significance of twerking to celebrate an achievement.
 
If my daughter did that, I’d feel nothing but shame and embarrassment for her.

Then later at home… anger.
I am pretty fucking sure any child of your's would understand the consequences of acting a fool.
