Listen I’m one of the more pessimistic people on here in regards to Jerry and Co and I think he runs too much of a circus to ever win it all, but I’d be shocked if this real doesn’t win 10 games if everyone is healthy

I mean I think we are due for a bounce back year for sure. I think the defense is going to be significantly improved. I worry a bit that the offense could take a step back but you have to feel good about that side of the ball on paper. They just didn't lose anyone.

What people often overlook when looking back over what this team has done over the last 8-12 months is that despite losing one ultra-elite player who gets all the media attention (Parsons), we've added two not quite as elite, but still elite players in Quinnen and Pickens (when his head is on right), a few high-level veteran starters (Clark, Gary and Thompson), plus stabilized the RB position with Javonte, which was an unknown at this time last year.

In the meantime Booker was a hit in the 1st and I think will be a Pro Bowler this year or next, and Downs is basically a guaranteed Pro Bowler within his first 2 years. That's two more guys who I think will be on a similar tier as Quinnen and Pickens, just playing positions that aren't as premium.

The only significant losses over the last 12 months have been Parsons, Osa and Jourdan Lewis. That's a pretty big improvement in the grand scheme of things and I think it gets overshadowed by the drama of the Parsons trade and the fact that trading him a week before the season exaggerated how bad things were last year.

I voted 10-11. But the addition of a real linebacker would push me to the 12+ win column.

We really could have used Lewis in 2025 and still now tbh.

I think we have 1.75 good DL on a 3 person unit, with Overton inbound but undersized (thus replacing Osa).

Our NT needs to be Otito with Clark and Williams flanking, but with position flex along the DL to mix in 4-2-5 and other multiple looks.

Working to where we could be multiple with the same personnel would be pretty cool.

Jumbo looks like Otito, Toia, Williams, and Clark with Overton and Gary at the edges.

I think we are missing another strong DL in the rotation to eventually replace Clark, and Overton ain't it.

With the addition of Downs I wouldn't be surprised if we run more 4-2-5 look than we actually run a 3-4 look. I think they view Downs as impactful vs the run. Sort of negating the "light" box assumption. It's why the coach said he wants his nickle to be sort of a LBer, Corner, and safety all rolled into one.

Now within a 4-2- there are all kinds of ways to run it. Could even be more similar to a 3-3-5 alignment with Barham being one of the LBers with Overshown and Winters. You could conceivably use Barham as a 4th Dlineman or have him drop back and blitz Overshown.

Anyway, not to complicate things but I think a true 3-4 alignment may be less than 50% of our snaps on defense.

True 3-4 looks will definitely be less than 50%, I'd say maybe 35%.

The majority of the time we'll be in 4-2-5, 4-1-6, 5-1-5, etc. types of looks, which is why Downs is so valuable as sort of an extra LB in lighter looks.

Jimmy brought in Darren Woodson and Kenneth Gant on nickel plays and it made a huge impact.

I don't see Parker ever pulling Downs off the field, but man I wish he was a more physical player. He has instincts, leadership, passion, and brains, but I could see him getting shoved around... a lot... by much more physical players at this level.

This was my top fear pre-draft and why I wanted to trade down from 12.

Back to the 4-2-5, this is where the Gary, DLaw, Overton-sized tweener can thrive.

If Moore can stay healthy-- he was a steal in he 4th.
