I doubt most of Virginians know this is happening to answer your question, but surely there is enough to know to sue and take this to the SCOTUS. Or at least the SC in VA.

I don't understand this. I mean, clearly it's to shove it in Alex Jones's face as "punishment," for his egregious speech (though the damages entered by the court are clearly ridiculous).

But how exactly is the Onion planning on making this profitable? They already have an Onion website/publication. None of Jones's followers will go to Infowars anymore now that the Onion owns it with the intent to mock them. What's the end game? Flaunting their mockery I guess.
