2026 Cowboys Draft Chatter Thread

Supposedly Wolchuk said he's heard we won't take Bain even at 12. :doh

I think I said this before but if we take Styles, Downs, Delane, Bailey or Reese ahead of Bain, fine. I'd prefer to take Bain but fine.

If Bain is there but they trade back...I won't agree but fine.

If Bain is the last of the Mohicans and they take anyone other than Bain, I'm going to be so pissed.

Yep me too. The only caveat to that is if they dug up some dirt from Kelly during the 30 visit about Bain that scared them off I can live with it. I mean I don't want a guy doing sketchy off the field stuff. I haven't heard anything that gives me that impression but I only know a fraction of what the Cowboys know I'm sure.

Good thing we have a couple of master strategists running the team!
Thanks for the fucking reminder. And our dumb brain trust is being led by the nose into this draft.

They do this shit every time on defense because they have employed an offensive minded HC. We draft per that DC and because nobody else can evaluate talent, we get stuck with the end result.

Yep, I've complained about the fact that they have absolutely no concept of how to build a defense at an organizational level, it's all dependent on the DC.

And yet…you trust Parker? If his FA excursion is like the rest of them, he got his boys.

I am sorry, I do not trust Locke, and I am not sold on Thompson either.

Both look like band aids in that the coach knows the player, okay?

I trust him with the secondary for sure, the front 7?

Who knows?

So we get stuck with a secondary draft because of him. The LBers are the biggest deal.

Maybe but then they'll just ship next year's 2 for Brooks so that'll be fun.

In all seriousness though, I wouldn't love a LB at 20, they need to be strategic in terms of either trading up at a reasonable price for Styles or moving down and taking one of the LB's in the 30-40 range.

I always try to view top prospects from big programs with a grain of salt. Sometimes they are a sum of those around them? It is tough but you are stupid if you evaluate based off of singular traits.

Harrison was almost too stocky and crazy strong, so a better comparison for Bain would be Brandon Graham or the older Seattle edge Michael Bennett. Almost exactly the same measurables in height weight-- right there at 275.

Bain is not the "freak" athlete, but like I said before being a freak does not translate into NFL production. Bain was productive in college to the point where that whole defense looked to him as its leader.

The only thing that reminded me of Harrison really was that compact power element of his game, Bain plays more like that but has more bend and moves like traditional EDGE rushers than Harrison who seemed to use raw strength.
Yeah I see Brandon Graham and that’s a 4-3 player.

I'm not overly worried about Bain's ability to rush in a 3-4 but he's definitely not a seamless fit, especially in terms of dropping into coverage here and there.
