DCC Appreciation Thread...

I fucking loved TV dinners. Those and the Swanson pot pies.
This past fall/winter I had a bit of a Marie Callender pot pie addiction.

I'd buy the 8 packs from Sam's and between lunch and dinner I'd go through 2 or 3 per week.

I nearly bought some of those last time I was there.

I'm a big Sam's guy so I've gotten those. Pretty good comfort food especially when it's cold.

Have you tried the huge chicken pot pie they make in their deli? It's really good. Not cheap but of course you're getting a lot of food. And they definitely don't cheat you on the amount of chicken they put in it.

And since I'm here, the Marie Callender soups there are about as good a canned soup as I've had. Weird though that you still have to open them with a can opener...

I didn't know their deli made those. I'm going to grab one next time I'm there.

Pot pie was one of the biggest reasons I looked forward to the holidays when I was a kid. My momma would always take the leftover chicken/turkey/ham and make homemade pot pies after every holiday gathering. I still like the frozen ones, but nothing beats what my mom would cook. They were just so damn good.

I’ve tried them and they’re ok. But they just didn’t hit like the Swansons did when I was a kid. I remember when they were 30 cents apiece or 4/1 dollar.

God damn I’m old.

Oh yeah, and my wife makes them good, too. :unsure

(she was looking over my shoulder and huffed)

They have a lattice crust on top, like a lattice apple pie does. They're nice.

I like the Banquet ones much more than the Marie Callenders.
Me too, but I think that's because that's what my family could afford when I was a kid, so I got used to them. We had Banquet and Swanson. I didn't even know Marie Callenders was a thing until I was an adult.

I still have a reserve of the cheap ass Swanson pot pies in case I get a hankering for my sister’s special brand of cooking.

What I notice/remember about those TV dinners is how tiny the portions were.

No wonder there were no obese people back then. Those TV dinners had like 450 calories after we'd spent all day burning three times that climbing trees, playing football, and getting in fights.

I did all those things but I was also out jumping cop cars as well.

Amateur.
