2026 Cowboys Draft Chatter Thread

It's hard, people have said the same things about most of the top pass rushers in the NFL? No one saw that in Parsons before we took him. Ware was a debate about Merriman when we took him.

Miles Garrett is more of a generational talent then something you should just expect in the top 10 of every draft.

I look at Bailey and he is fast, he has perfect size, great arm length and elite production. Just not sure why he doesn't rank close to the top pass rushers in most drafts.

All true but that's a different conversation than whether you'd trade up for him.

I'm not trading up unless its a scenario where pick 12 goes up and pick 20 moves down and in total we don't lose any picks. Beyond that I'm not giving up picks to move up.

Which is a different conversation than trading two firsts to move up to pick 3 to take a pass rusher. I'm not doing something like that. Or like the trade last year to get Travis Hunter? Hell no.

But I think Bailey has everything you look for in a top notch NFL pass rusher. People just do this thing where they think the current draft class is inferior to previous years. But it seems like this happens every single year.

Homerism aside, I think Bailey is easily a top 5-6 n this draft. But, this is a weird draft with shit at QB. In a normal draft Bailey is probably top 10-12, but in this one he is top 6 and it would be silly for someone needing a pass rush to pass on him. After Reese goes, of course.

I kept a close eye on him all year and I think Bailey would be top 10 almost any year, he's not quite Will Anderson or Abdul Carter but I don't think he's miles off. He would probably just be in the 6-8 range in a strong draft rather than 3-5 like this year.

Parsons running a 4.4 at 240 or whatever it was isn't that much more impressive than Bailey running a 4.5, Bailey also has prototypical arm length and a developed set of pass rush counters.

So all of that is to say I'd be very happy moving up for him.

Yell it again for the haters in the back! Preach!

He is a hell of a lot better player than Tyree Wilson was. Who went what 7?

Will Anderson Jr. size, speed, high production. Not far off from David Bailey in my book.

The only thing I disagree with you on is that last part. I'd take Bain ahead of Bailey but I'd take Bailey ahead of Reese.

These rumors are becoming annoying.

WTF is Cleveland.com?

I actually believe McShay to an extent because he has sources in the league, plus it aligned with Feldman's recent mock, and Harris is somewhat associated with the team even if he's full of shit.

But I'm not buying some made up trade in a mock by "Cleveland.com".

To be fair, it's probably associated with a Cleveland newspaper.

There's a philly.com and it's owned by the Philadelphia Inquirer.

But regardless, it feels highly speculative. I very much doubt this is a real thing.

Do any of y'all think we (along with a lot of mocks) seem hyper-focused on defensive players in the top 10?

This is an offensive league and always will be. So is it possible we're glossing over a couple more offensive players (OL, WR) that could go in the top 10 that we aren't talking about too much, and we end up getting one of the "star" defensive players to fall in our lap at 12.

I think that's possible but I feel like none of the offensive players in the top ten excite me. Although I also have no interest in them so admittedly I have looked closely at any of them.

But me being underwhelmed by the top offensive players includes Mendoza and he's obviously going 1 so you never know when teams will force something.

We shouldn't be looking at WR's that high given what we already have, although if Love drops or an RT is the BPA I think that's certainly a consideration.

Maybe I read it wrong but I don't think he was suggesting we should take one, just that other teams might be more apt to take an offensive player than we think. Which would mean some of these defenders could drop to us.

Maybe, Tate will go before us but I think it's 50/50 at best that another WR goes, it's certainly possible but I think improbable.

RT is the better bet with both Mauigoa and Fano.

If you assume that Mendoza, Love, Tate and one OL will go before we pick we need two other players to go so that one of the top 6 defensive guys falls to us. That could be another WR, a second OL, McCoy or some other off the wall pick like Sadiq.

Like had Chase somehow fallen to us in 2021, should we take him despite having Cooper, Lamb, and a then promising looking Michael Gallup?

He was the best player in that draft, better than Surtain or Micah.

But you’ve got to look at team makeup too. Parsons was a better add for us— and the talent level was still very high.

I think so long as the talent level is in the same tier, you must address needs in the first round.

But we have to avoid the trap of feeling desperate on defense because we’ve already made so many changes to that side of the ball— it’s already not the same defense.

We need an ILB, an EDGE, and a CB at the moment, but we still can ease those gaps through churn.

And those are three of the deepest positions in the draft.

So I wouldn’t cry if we drafted one of these really good OTs in the first. Seriously, they would make a huge impact, and were truly getting first round value at that position. Given how bad our OT play has been (with no end in sight).

Yes that’s exactly what I meant.

Read somewhere that there are rumors that something negative is about to come out on Bain. Anyone heard/read about that?
