The only year in his career Brooks wasn't top 10 in tackles was the year he was coming off of offseason ACL surgery. Yeah, I would easily give up a 3rd for that.
You realize he has only been with the Dolphins two years, right? On that 26th ranked run defense last year...

2021 Seahawks - 2nd
2022 Seahawks - 4th
I don't know what your definition of perennial is but only being outside the top 10 once in his career and only because of an ACL injury is what I would call perennial all star. So, yeah, that's what I'm proving he is.Listen I like Jordyn Brooks, but you're trying to make a guy who didn't get offered a fifth year option sound like a perennial all star. He is a good LBer.
That's all you got? Come on, man.So good the Seahawks didn't give him a fifth year option.
For the record, if they can add Brooks for a reasonable price it'd be the equivalent of signing a guy like Dean, Walker or whoever in FA. It'd automatically push this offseason into "clear success" territory, assuming they don't absolutely fuck up the draft.
Would you have traded Osa for Brooks? To me, easy yes. So do it.
This year was he more like in 2021 when he was second in tackles? Or when he was 4th in tackles in 2022? Or like in 2024 when he was 9th? Like those three years? BTW, he had more tackles in 2021 than 2025. But, yanno, he is more like those 3 years than this last year, amirite?
They were the top ILB FA's, if Brooks is somewhere around their level how would adding him not make the offseason an obvious success?
If we had managed to sign Dean would we all not be pretty thrilled with where things are headed defensively?
Because he's 35.Tackles are a bad measure of LB quality.
Bobby Wagner had 162 tackles last year, why not just sign him and keep your draft picks?
It's pretty obvious that they're going to see how the draft plays out and then do something at ILB if they ended up not getting one in the first or early 2nd after a trade down.
I'd hope that they'd still go after a guy like Brooks even if they add an ILB in the 3rd/4th.
It depends what draft pick they'd give up for him. The contract is whatever.
Dean (or Walker) >>>>>>>>>>>> Brooks plus a premium draft pick.
No, I would not have.
But regardless that's faulty logic because circumstances change and are different for everyone.
So for example, we traded a 3rd for Pickens. Would you take a 3rd for him now? Obviously not.
Miami's not trying to be in a position where a guy like Brooks is helping them win. They're resetting.
My guess is Miami is just asking for too much.
Fair enough, we can move on and they can be stuck with him.
Good for us if we refuse to cave.
I wouldn't have either. But that's because a really good 3 tech is worth more than a really good LBer. That's not a knock on Brooks. He is a good player. But you can see the value difference in the types of contracts these guys receive.
What's premium? I'm not too concerned whether it's 92 or 112.
A 2nd next year and then I'd have an issue.
Because he's 35.
In general I'd definitely rather have a player like Osa over a player like Brooks, but if the new DC doesn't feel Osa is a good fit and we desperately need a starting ILB?
