2026 Random Cowboys Stuff Thread...

I wouldn't give up one of the firsts, but I damn sure would do the 3rd.

Well yeah.... But let me ask you this:

What if we had a 28-year-old All-Pro on our roster and we gave him away for just a 3rd?

Would you be ok with that?

Probably not, but we don't have a second this year. I would most likely do a late 2027 second, though. And, it would be a late second with that ball-hunting demon on our team.

Depends on the situation. If we are trying to gear up to compete, I’d fucking hate it. If we are bottoming out like the dolphins and looking to rebuild, sure.

An all-pro LBer who lead the league in tackles last year and is elite in coverage who is only 28. Nah, I'm not overvaluing anything.

You make it sound like the guy is a career all pro. He was an all pro in 2025 racking up a shit ton of tackles on a terrible team. I don't think that's some sort of standard you can expect.

Up until last year he was a solid but unspectacular player. 6 years in the NFL, and up until last year had he even made a probowl?

Don't get excited. Can't get excited. No, just stay calm. It's okay. Breathe, Craig. Just breathe. Oh no, it's coming. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

PLEASE GOD LET THIS HAPPEN!
This would fucking suck for this very goddamn reason.

I don't give a shit about the pro bowl. :lol

These things don't exist in a vacuum. They're rebuilding and dumping aging players for future assets.

The way I look at it is would you give up a late 3rd/mid 4th for a guy who is at least as good, if not better than the top free agent ILB's signed a few weeks ago?

I definitely would, and especially because if our dummy FO was smart they could use the extra year on his deal as a mechanism for a reasonable extension that is easier to manage than a straight FA contract of a similar value to a guy like Dean.

But you are factoring in a handicap in our dummy FO.

The guy literally called Brooks a "green dot" and this dumbass manages to contradict that in about 25 words.

A top 5-10 ILB would be somewhere around $12-15M/year, but the fact that he's under contract in 2026 would mean you can tack that on and spread the money out.

If they were willing to give Dean 12/year or whatever it'd be even easier to manage something like this.

For the record, if they can add Brooks for a reasonable price it'd be the equivalent of signing a guy like Dean, Walker or whoever in FA. It'd automatically push this offseason into "clear success" territory, assuming they don't absolutely fuck up the draft.
