2026 NFL Draft Chatter

Ehhh…not so sure about the 20 thing in terms of value. But in this crap draft, it might take that.

Ultimately I think 20 is probably too high for a slot only type, but I also think he's going to be an excellent slot, especially in Parker's scheme.

I wouldn't take him at 20 because of his age, but I also wouldn't be irate because I know we'd be getting an excellent player.

I like Ponds way better.

I think Ponds is a better prospect but I wouldn't assume he's a slot just because of his size, I believe he played the majority or all of his snaps last year outside.

He might be able to move inside but I think he's probably better suited to stay outside.

Either way the slot position is very different than the traditional idea of a slot CB in Parker's scheme. I was saying it about DeJean for a while but Parker flat out said it in his PC that it's kind of a LB/CB/S hybrid, which is why I think Scott is such a good fit.

He's not a pure traditional slot CB exactly.

Delane is for sure going before 12 now, right? Someone gonna slip to us. Bain? Styles? Bailey? Downs? Need some WRs to have good pro days and we will really be in good shape.

Mendoza, Love, Mauigoa and Tate are all very likely to go before us. There are 6 top defensive prospects that I think stand out above the rest in Reese, Bailey, Downs, Bain, Styles and Delane.

That means we need 6 offensive players to go ahead of us (or some sort of defensive reach) for one of those 6 to drop.

Fano, Freeling, Lemon and Tyson seem to be the best possibilities to go ahead of us, so we're going to need two of them on top of Mendoza, Love, Mauigoa and Tate.

I'm not very optimistic but I think there's a chance.

But really, how could anyone prefer Simpson to Mendoza?

Honestly, I don't love Mendoza. I think his ceiling is maybe Bo Nix or someone like that. I could see someone liking Simpson better.

But it may also be a team like the Jets convincing themselves that they're actually better off with Simpson.

The other thing is if McCoy runs great at his pro day. That would make it much more likely that one of the top defenders drop to us.

I think it'd be very strange if someone took McCoy over one of the top 6 defensive guys, especially Delane who was as pristine as possible during the season and just ran a sub-4.4.

Anything is possible but I think it's much more likely that someone goes for the 2nd/3rd OL or WR off the board.

I'm hoping Tate in particular goes before New Orleans because I could easily see them taking a bigger WR like Tyson to pair with Olave.

But even if not that puts him in play for us at 12.

I look at this Simpson smoke as a blessing. Mendoza will still go first. But even if the Raiders go full retard and take Simpson, Mendoza will still go before us.

Now, I don’t believe the Raiders will do that. But maybe some other team starts to believe the hype and takes Simpson before us. Or someone trades up to do so. (Stupid) But if it happens, that just ups the chances of someone we want making it to 12. Desperate teams always seem to lose their common sense over a QB.

Definitely, teams always get desperate for a QB and hope and wish one far earlier than he should go. Maybe even top ten.

I just don't see how anyone could prefer Simpson. He's not even a good passer right now. It's all potential.

I think there could be a little fire to it. I know his dad has some connections as a coach and I think he declared because NFL teams were giving him the impression they thought he would go in the first.

I think sometimes there is just a disconnect between media scouts and what NFL teams actually think. So no I won't be shocked if this guy goes in the first. It was anticipated back when he declared.

By the way what I find interesting is the number of players that aren't running 40s. I don't think Mesidore or Bain ran a 40 today. They didn't at the combine either.

Which made me think, do teams even care? They have GPS speeds on these guys now days. They probably know the guys acceleration, fastest speed and all that good stuff without needing a 40 in shorts. As a fan its hard because we don't have access to that type of data but I'm guessing NFL teams do.

40 time seems less important for a lineman anyway.

I think teams still care about 40's to some extent just because it's a historical benchmark that they can use for comparison, to some extent.

But it's not as significant as it used to be.
