2026 Cowboys Free Agency Thread…

Well the evidence is that the Joneses are cheap and sit out free agency whereas the Eagles, where Parker came from, are hyper aggressive and what’s more one of his players was available and we didn’t get aggressive enough to land him.

There’s some speculation but it’s not like both possibilities are equal.

And Philly has a GM.

Quinn had his guys. Zimmer had, uh, Kendricks, Eberflus had his guys, now Parker is getting his, I guess. The GM’s only involvement has been to run off the franchise defender, churn the DCs, and bring in bargain bin FAs while filling holes by creating new ones or allowing glaring holes to fester.

Have a plan. Have a backup plan. Seize the initiative. For fuck’s sake, try.

When Parker was signed, everyone was happy with the process. Then when his assistants were hired, everyone was happy with the process. Saying that he was very involved with who was chosen. But now when player acquisition has begun, people are pissed. Who’s to say Parker isn’t involved with this. We should be mad because he isn’t enamored with the players that we are? Let it play out.

I do think Parker is involved. I have no idea to what extent. I'm sure he is the biggest reason we pursued Dean at all. I'm also sure he was a big part of signing the safety we did. I think he probably views Thompson as the most important addition to the team. I've heard the man gush about how important a guy with that skill set is to the defense.

But I am very curious as to what his real thoughts are about the players he has and the players he thinks he needs. I hope what we are doing on defense is Parkers plan. Because he is the guy who is going to ultimately be responsible for the defenses results. I do wonder to what extent he gets say in the player acquisition.

Yeah, that's why I said if Parker didn't think Osa was a fit then I'm good with the trade. Parker knows 10 metric shit tons more than I do about football, so what he wants he should get. I have always thought that coaches should have a ton of sway in regards to (especially) FA, and to a smaller degree the draft.

I wish I knew, too, but he is never going to give this information. He doesn't want to call players out which is completely understandable.

No and maybe there is a plan for other additions. Maybe there isn't. But I'm sure the new defensive coordinator has a plan in his head. We just won't know it until or if it unfolds. I'm more curious if the organization is making a real effort to do what Parker needs.

CB Cobie Durant 1-year deal.

That's a really good signing, he could easily be a starter for us next year and not be an embarrassment.

Kind of similar to Locke, they aren't your plan A to start but if they had to they could hold their own.

From what I see here I like the signing. Great hands. Good tackling. Decent speed.
