2026 Cowboys Free Agency Thread…

If your Grok is educated like mine is, it should tell you that investing in folly is a waste of time.
That's why I gave my opinion instead. The difference between pick 80 (middle of the 3rd) and pick 94 is worth a 4th and 5th rounder to move down those 14 spots. If it's early enough in the 4th round, it would be pick 80 and a 4th rounder to drop to the end of the round. So, an early 4th (almost a 3rd round pick, right?) would be needed to move down to basically a 4th round pick. Giving you a mid 3rd and a 4th that is only a few spots from where you traded up to begin with. But, yeah, I guess we can all just blow sunshine up people's asses that call the pick what it is. Basically a 4th round pick.

That may be the most convoluted explanation I have ever heard. I award you no points and we are all dumber for having heard this.

I do have a weird thing about loving the first pick in the fourth round though. Its a pick that oddly seems to have a lot of great draft options. Like teams just forgot about some guys in the first 3 rounds.

Did you know that dropping from pick 12 to pick 20 is worth a second round pick and more. Ergo pick 20 is a second round pick.

Huh?

There are 8 picks before round 4. Round 4 starts with pick 101.
I will admit, I didn't think about 3rd round comp picks. But, at the same time it isn't 101 every year. It depends on how many 3rd round comp picks are awarded that year. But, I will give you that I didn't think about the comps.

All draft season, premium picks are spoken about as “The Top 100”. As in, such n’ such team has 4 picks in the top 100…

We just acquired one of those for a player that was being phased out. Some reports saying he didn’t fit our new DCs system. And a highly paid player, at that. But apparently, that pick wasn’t enough. “Basically” NOT one of those premium picks.

Aww, fuck.

You know that's an apples to oranges argument. So, since we are to the point where we are creating straw men, you guys carry on with trying anything you can to make yourself feel better about a terrible trade.

If it does come out that Parker didn't think he was a good fit then I am okay with them getting rid of him. I just think he was worth more than pick 94.

I agree with that, but could change if these moves are being made to bring someone else in.
Who is left in FA that will push us to the NFC Championship game at a minimum? Because short of that or a SB, it’s the same merry go round we’ve been on with our core team getting another year older.

The Athletic says we got strong value.

I don't buy the fit argument though. Osa was always a very strong player. Now it may have been that Osa wasn't thrilled with the fit. Mostly because he wasn't going to just be shooting gaps. But I don't buy that he wouldn't have been very good in our system. I like Osa, still do. And aren't the 49ers also going to be running a 3-4?

Much like Simp said, the only way this actually makes the team better is if we go and add some guys with real value as a result of the freed up space.

It's not really apples to oranges.

Pick 92 is pick 92. It's not the same as 101. Just like pick 101 isn't the same as pick 109.

Pick 92 is a third round pick. That doesn't mean it holds the same value as pick 65. Obviously there are ranges in every round. But yes I am glad to be back in the draft on day two. I can get a starting defensive player at 92. What if that pick ends up being Jacob Rodriguez? Still calling it a fourth?

Dont like the trade because I still dont buy that Clark is going to be here next season.
Evidently talent acquisition is hard for Dallas.
