New Defensive Coordinator - Christian Parker

I'm going to DFDC things a little bit.

Jerry has said a whole lot of bullshit over the years. I wouldn't put much stock in what he's saying here.
Right, he allows others to have more say at times, but he can grab that back at any time. And we know he will.

Plus, Schotty's calls might not be very good either. He's not exactly Jimmy Johnson. It's nice to do things like other teams do them, but that way fails all the time also.

Yea I definitely wouldn't say the culture of the organization has changed, check back in with me in two years (and two FA periods) from now.

Maybe (probably) you're right, but it just feels different this time. It almost feels like I'm watching another team build a defensive coaching staff the right way and me being envious because the Cowboys never do things the right way. It may not work out, but at least this time it was done correctly for once.

I don't think Jerry even knows Schotty has influence over him. It's like a child repeating the behaviors they see from a parent.

But you're right, he may have influence but it doesn't mean the influence is positive yet because we don't know yet if Schotty is actually a good coach.

One of the interesting things about this FA market is that there are a huge number of starting caliber safeties available, many of whom are borderline top 10 types in the league:

Bryan Cook
Jaquan Brisker
Coby Bryant
Kamren Curl
Jalen Thompson
Jaylinn Hawkins
Kyle Dugger
Reed Blankenship
Geno Stone
Alohi Gilman

Some of those guys will probably re-sign before FA starts but I think the safety market is going to be pretty saturated, to the point that a guy like Blankenship who is a solid if unspectacular starter can probably be had for about $5M/year or so.

Ideally I'd like to go after a Thompson or Curl, but even Blankenship would probably be one of the 5 best FA's we've signed in the last decade, as sad as that is.

Doesn't Blankenship kind of suck?

He is. And so is Riley Moss, who Denver might be willing to talk about since he is in the last year of his contract.

We could get real white with the quickness.

I don’t like white dbs

I thought the idea was to get better on defense

Jerry is going to break the bank. He said so. And I believe this man to be honest and truthful in all that he says and does. ~slowly rubs bruise from the last beating~

Our pass defense was so bad last year, that even getting players that are just capable of understanding how coverages work would be an improvement. That being said, Blankenship is kinda meh to me. Wouldn't hate it, but signing him wouldn't make me feel like we made a huge leap as far as improvement in coverage goes. You never know though, maybe he meshes well with the final product we put on the field.

Would I sign him, yes.

If he is your prized player of the offseason that's the real problem. We need like 6 Blankenships and 2 studs in the draft.

Judge Smails would like a word.

I still hope to outlive Jerry. Isn't 30 years of bullshit enough?
Yes, but there's nobody else on earth who can steer this team to a championship.

Let's give him another decade, he's gonna figure this thing out.
