New Defensive Coordinator - Christian Parker

So they're not supposed to interview multiple people? There are a lot of guys we have interviewed that haven't been hired by us.

One year overlap in Jacksonville for them. That's not enough.

We just aren't used to as Dallas fans having a normal interview process and picking your favorite candidate. So we assume if a guy was interviewed and didn't take the job they must have rejected it or wanted too much money.

I think you completely missed my point.

It's not that they're not supposed to interview multiple people, but Schottenheimer likely knows him more after working with him for a year than an interview for a few hours would tell you about a guy.

You suggested they weren't impressed with his job that he did in Baltimore, but why would they even interview him at all if that was the case? Especially since Schottenheimer already knows him.

It's possible they like other coaches better, but that's not what you originally said. You said they weren't impressed with what he did in Baltimore. And I said that's unlikely.

By the way Clarence Hill has reported that Orr and Parker have a prior relationship although it's not clear how.

I mean as a DC no one should be impressed with what he did in Baltimore. But as a LBer coach I think the Cowboys probably had a good idea. From what I can tell the Cowboys have really been shooting more for ascending coaches this time around as opposed to descending.

Also sometimes teams do an interview as a favor to a coach to help raise their profile. It's entirely possible this was Schotty doing a favor for a coach he liked as a person but that was never really the one we wanted for the position. It's all really just speculation and guessing. But ultimately our hire is more in line with what direction I think this team has been headed towards with coach hiring.

The consensus from Baltimore fans seemed to be that he was a good position coach but was not ready to be DC

I wouldn't be shocked if they still hired Orr as a "run game coordinator", would only be logical given there's a pass game coordinator and that's the title that was floated for him.
