2026 Random Cowboys Stuff Thread...

The Cowboys offense was 5th in yards in 2023, 10th in 2022, and 1st in 2021.

That's not just they were put in good position from turnovers generated by the defense.

Those offenses moved the ball A LOT and were legitimately good.

Yea we had a lot of talent, I don't think his scheme is terrible to where it makes talent worse than it is (like Eberflus last year), but I don't think his scheme elevates talent beyond it's baseline level like what you see with SF, the Rams, etc.

Pittsburgh has very average talent so I expect very average results, wake me up if they're a top 5-7ish offense without significant upgrades.

I would not take a back that high, but I recognize the need. I personally would be very very skeptical about big money for Williams.

What round would that be? Honestly haven't looked at where RBs are projected. Earliest I'd consider RB would be fourth. But the fourth tends to produce a decent amount of NFL RBs.

He is probably the 3rd or 4th off the board. That could infringe in that area. I would much rather find a scatback or bowling ball in the later rounds. But we do need depth for certain.

I mean I know I'm probably silly for still liking Blue and Mafeh. But it also wouldn't prevent me from drafting another option at RB. Of course on day three it's also why I have no problem drafting a WR for example.

I'd really love to trade down in the first to get a second or third at minimum. We just don't have enough picks in my opinion to fill out the roster.

Of course if you get two steals on defense in the first, that's the only reason to not try and move down a little to acquire day two picks.

So you don't think Dak folding in pretty much all of those games had anything to do with that?

If Dak doesn't shit the bed in San Francisco in 2023, we beat them by 2 scores and get to our first NFC in ages.

McCarthy will need an elite QB and a good defensive coordinator. If he had that here he'd still be the coach.

So if he succeeds with talent, it was the talent and not him, but if he fails without talent then he's the problem and not the talent.

Got it.

I'm hoping his low production numbers this past season allow him to fall lower than he should.

I don't think he does much to elevate an offense beyond their talent level, so yea, unless I see otherwise with Pittsburgh that's where I'm at. I think he's good enough to succeed with good talent but not good enough to elevate average to below average talent.

Basically I think he's a JAG as far as designing an offense.

The Cowboys have to be the only team in professional sports where the worst thing that could happen to them was to win a championship.

I wonder if there is anything similar in the history of professional sports where a brilliant coach leads a team to back to back championships, then the owner who cannot abide not getting the proper credit, destroys the franchise?

Yes, I know the franchise teh most valuable evar.
