2025 College Football Chatter

I'm honestly surprised so many teams declined bowl invites. Not because the bowls meant anything but if I were a senior who doesn't have a future in the pros, I'd absolutely want my last game to be done properly.

I'm sure most of these guys didn't realize that Thanksgiving weekend game would be their last time suiting up.

If those two were in the Big 10 or SEC they would be lucky to finish .500, they're basically giving playoff spots to a team as good as like Maryland or Auburn because they don't want to get flamed for locking out mid majors.
Essentially handing out participation awards.

I think this is another reason to do away with conference championships. Not every conference has a team worthy of being in the playoffs, clearly. They need a different way of picking the best 12 teams that does not require weak conferences to be represented
Remember when the Big 12 didn't have a conference championship game after teams like TAMU, CU, & Mizzou left?

They crowned conference champions every year during that timeframe. So it can be done.

And they only started having one because the committee held it against them. Said those teams lacked a "data point" or some such.

Now you lose in CC games and it doesn't even hurt you.

I know all of you TTU people love Rodriguez but the other LB 13-Roberts kind of intrigued me a little more.

Thoughts on him from the Lubbock people?

Also like the DT Holmes as a mid round guy.

He doesnt get the fame that Rodriquez does because of the turnovers but if you ask the team he is that one that allows Rodriquez to do the things he does. They say he is very important for what they do on defense and does the stuff that doesnt really get noticed. A little bit taller than Rodriquez so that will help with the dork olympics.

He was on the Freshman all American team in 23 as well. I expect good things going forward with him.

That all makes sense given my keen eye and all.

I think the gist of what those players might be saying is that Roberts has better size/range to cover up larger areas of the field at the second level, which allows Rodriguez to attack downhill towards the LOS more (i.e. more opportunities for stats) that he wouldn't be able to do if the other guy wasn't cleaning up stuff that got past the initial line of defense.

Will he be there on day 3? Because day two of our draft may not exist. It's tough to not be able to adress a position like LBer in the second or third.

Roberts is very good. I'm not sure I would call him better than JRod, but he is good. Holmes is a beast in the middle. The dude gets very consistent penetration and disrupts the pocket well.

Who knows really but at this point I'd say it's probably 75% he goes day 3 unless he blows up during the playoffs and/or Combine.

We have the potential to hit 2 home runs in this draft but gosh, it worries me a little that if we miss at a position of need in the first we have a really long wait. And by the fourth round you're not really expecting a guy to fill a hole. You're just hoping to find good players at any position.

He is just a junior and dont think he will leave early.

Interesting, he's been there 4 years but I guess with redshirts, COVID, or God knows what else there's a subset of guys who have been in college for 5-6+ years.

Yeah I assumed we were moving past those cases by now but I guess a redshirt year is normal.

Looks like he got the redshirt in 22 with only 2 games played.
