To be fair, batting average is a piss poor way to judge a hitter.

Volpe's OPS+ is 90, which is below average generally.

But Gray's OPS+ was 47, which is significantly worse than Volpe and generally horrendous.

I don't think this is as egregious as it's being made out to be.

People forget that a strike occurs when the ball is in the strike zone at any point while it crosses home plate - NOT where the catcher catches it.

I'd say at least two of the pitches in this sequence were strikes by my eyes, or at the very least too close to take.

Ran across some crazy Tony Gwynn stats and found this one to be wild.

He had 541 plate appearances against Hall of Fame pitchers and batted .331 in those at bats.

So I turn on the Rangers game and I see the Angels wearing their City Connect and it actually looks good. Classic and cool. Why them when so many others ones are so awful?

I'm thrilled with the deal.

I think Abel might be decent but Tait should be pretty good, especially if he stays at catcher.
