Zack Martin Retires

Are you going to be okay, @Genghis Khan ?

I'll struggle through it.

A damn shame that Tyron, Fredbeard, and Martin never won a SB.

We only really got a few years with all of them, 2014, 2015 (tanked by Romo's injury), 2016, 2017 (tanked by Elliott's suspension) and 2019 which was Frederick's last where he wasn't exactly the same player.

So basically two of our best seasons of the last 25 years and two others that were tanked by injury/suspension.

All tanked by Garrett.

Another player who suckered Jerry into one last big payday before falling off a cliff performance-wise.

Yeah that whole holdout was a giant load of shit in the first place. But I guess when you know you're on your last legs, why not milk a desperate owner for everything he is worth.

And I don’t blame him even a little bit for it. People here continually bitch about how the Jones’ aren’t in it to win, right? If we see it, don’t you think the players do? So yeah, get every last fucking penny you can. You’ll be in the NFL and with the Cowboys for a very small fraction of your life. That money could be with you and your family forever if you’re smart about it.

That's fair. The Jones boys treat the team like a business. And by that I mean they believe in maximizing profits, not maximizing wins. So why shouldn't the players also treat it like a business. And use every advantage they have to maximize their own personal profits. So you're right, can't blame the guy for doing that. As a fan I still don't like it, because we are the only group left that cares about winning a Superbowl.

It's why people get mad at Dak for maximizing his money. But all he was doing is exactly what Jerry and Stephen do. And every cent that Dak lowered his contract demands was just going to go in their pocket ultimately and not towards making the team better.
