No but if a player signs a 3 year deal with a 50 million signing bonus and then retires after year one, it seems a little unfair that he gets to keep the whole bonus.

Unfortunate maybe but I wouldn't say unfair. It's one of the risks of having big upfront bonuses. Especially if it's an older player.
