The first billion dollar contract isn't too far away. :doh

It's ridiculous.

I'm trying to figure out why he got paid more than Ohtani when Ohtani is the ONLY 2-way player in baseball.

How do you justify paying Juan Soto, or any other baseball player, 765 million?

Ridiculous.

He makes more on one contract than 2 of the greatest players in their respective sports made combined.

WTF is wrong with the owners in baseball?

Cohen's a unique case. He's way richer than the other owners and isn't afraid to operate at a loss if it means winning a championship. He'll gladly pay the luxury tax to hold that trophy.

This is like an A-Rod contract, so far out there, but it's due to the fact that you are getting a 26 year old who has numbers, at the moment, that compare favorably to not "just" a Hall of Famer, but some of the greatest Hall of Famers ever. And they operate in a no-cap league.

This kind of player hitting free agency at this age? Results in a $200m overpayment.

Mets sign Soto.

Phillies counter with Romano.

Im sure its just GM speak for look we are trying. Plus the Dodgers lost out on Soto so they need another candidate for another deferred contract.

Nonetheless I will foolishly hold out hope.

Former Braves LHP Max Fried reportedly headed to the Yankees for about $218M over 8 years.
