In '92, Irvin was holding out and signed the Wednesday before the season opener. Lamb's stalemate will probably be resolved the same way.

They won't wait that long, I think it'll be sometime between next Friday and Sunday, leading up to the week of practice.

And then these inbred fucking goons will blather on and on about how great of a job they did to sign him and how great this is for the organization.

I think the deal is all but worked out. We are probably haggling over structure of the money from what I have heard. Some where in the slightly below 33 mil a year range.

I thought I read that the number of years was the issue, which makes sense because it was the same issue with Dak.

I agree with them that ideally for the team you want the contract to be longer, but you shouldn't dig yourself in for 18 months over the issue. At a certain point if a player is insisting on a certain number of years you just have to accept it.

Could be, Dallas may want 33 on a 6 year deal. He may want 33 on a 4 year deal. It makes a big difference on the cap. And honestly unless year 5 and 6 are void years, the WR market will probably be a lot higher by then.

It'll be more than 33/year, probably not much more than 34 but I'd be shocked if it was less than 33. Maybe if they do only a 3 year deal but no chance it'll be 4 and under 33/year.

Yeah I'm just repeating what they were saying on The Ticket or one of those guys. They were saying the problem was amount of signing bonus and guaranteed salary but they could be wrong. They were saying it's just barely under 33 mil a year average.

Anyway, Jerry will cave on whatever the issue is. He will just do it at the last minute. Just like wanting Dak for more than 4 years. And he waited, waited and waited and it was 4 years.

The fourth round pick made him a roster lock. I just don't understand the end game. His contract is up after this season. So you develop him and let's say he becomes respectable enough to be the backup. Is he resigning? Or is he going somewhere with a chance to play?

And in no way in the world do I see us signing him instead of Dak. So ultimately what is the end game. Develop a guy you'll never use to sign somewhere else after the season?

Who the hell knows what Jerry’s thinking?

You just put more thought into the situation with this post than Jerry did when he made the trade.

The window of time, since we acquired him, did not align with any feasible alternatives. Definitely something they should have thought about before coughing up a 4th because it will totally be a wasted pick.

Yeah it's been my concern from the start. His age is great to still develop but his contract status isn't at all.
