Wonder if he will scramble back to some job with the Chiefs. He will never get out of Andy Reids shadow there but at least it's a well paying job with a lot of security. And you get to win a bunch. And hey eventually Andy will retire, maybe you get a shot at the Chiefs job then.

I hate to say it, but in this case he's right.

Kingsbury is a complete fraud who keeps getting recycled because he has a reputation as an "offensive mind" that is damn near 10 years old at this point, and he has a pretty face and talks nice.

But he's a complete fraud whose offense looked like some peewee, cat in the hat simplistic bullshit in Arizona, and what has he done since?

Spent a year being Caleb Williams' butt buddy at USC while Williams showed literally no improvement from sophomore to junior year?

Kingsbury and Riley are two peas in a pod, they were innovators 10 years ago but haven't evolved since and are great at marketing themselves.

You forgot the part about him bringing the Cardinals organization down by being the reason they drafted Kyler Murray.

If Reid retires, he would be a smart man to go right back there.

I think it's the "This is the kind of stuff that doesn't happen for Black folks." stuff that people are disagreeing with, not whether or not Kingsbury earned another shot.

That's generally true too as far as the NFL goes, you rarely see black coaches recycled and given as many opportunities in the same manner.

Raheem Morris is probably the best recent example, and perhaps a harbinger of things to come, but historically it's true even if overexaggerated in this case.

The Kingsbury thing is egregious though, the guy never did anything to earn a HC job in the first place and certainly hasn't done anything to earn a OC job over the last few years, but here we are.

No it's not. We're talking about now, not however long ago you want to go back (although you could go back to Dennis Green if you wanted).

You named Morris, I'd add Crennell, Bowles, Mayo, Lovie Smith, and Hugh Jackson, and that's just head coaches - plenty of black assistants have been recycled without proving much.

I was just going to mention Jackson and Smith as they instantly came to mind. Thanks for reminding me of several others.

Mayo?

The guy who was just hired as a HC for the first time like two weeks ago?

It's definitely overexaggerated but my point is that I can't think of a single example like Kingsbury who literally proved nothing before getting a HC job, did a middling job at that, and then turned right around and got a coordinator job based on literally nothing.

At least guys like Crennell, Bowles and so forth had legit skins on the wall, Kingsbury has done literally nothing, not one single thing, to earn a spot in the NFL.
