Damn, all of this Prescott talk is so so useless.

He is not getting cut or traded. He will be the QB of this team for the foreseeable future.

We had to deal with similar if not even grander failures from every QB this team has had since Aikman.

Yet, the whining is even louder now when it makes even less sense.

It is not a player issue for the most part.

It will take a very transcendent QB talent to ever succeed in Dallas with the state of the franchise as it is now.

So the idea is just to wipe the slate clean, take the cap devastation and then trust the same collection of fucking idiots who had to luck into Aikman in the first place? And then trip over their own dicks by accident to get Romo and Prescott, while also coveting talents like Quincy Carter, Drew Henson, Chad Hutchinson, Johnny Manziel, Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook?

  • Prescott will be under contract in 2024 for nearly $60M. This is the 2nd highest cap charge in the NFL this upcoming year. Nothing is guaranteed.
  • If they wanted to cut him, they would accelerate that $60M on top of the $-20M they are already over the cap. He would be June 1st cut and about all what the Cowboys could reasonably do is pay their draft picks and survive.
  • He would have to waive his no trade clause to get traded. Then they would have to eat the $61M or so.
  • He has two void years in the contract for 2025-2026. He cannot be franchised. This means he is an FA with a max compensatory pick of a 3rd round choice in 2026.
  • Prescott has all of the leverage. If they are going to extend him, they might as well do it now and roll and prorate his money.
  • The best way out is to extend Prescott and go all in via FA in 2024 and 2025.
  • In other words, we are fucked.

What a shitty fucking contract. He wouldn't have gotten one like this from any other team.

Sounds eerily similar to what I've expressed many times. Difference is I get shunned and excommunicated for expressing it. Not only is the Prescott talk useless, most of the talk is useless, given "the state of the franchise as it is now."

We already explained it.

But you seem to think we're all just idiots for even having any level of interest in the team which apparently is beneath you.

So if it's completely pointless to follow the team as you put it, then again, why are you here?

I'm not talking about "following" the team. I'll still follow them, only because I have for 50 years. I just do so at more of an emotional distance. I admit I got a little upset at the Packer debacle, although part of me half expected it. But then I thought, Why? What's the point? I just turned it off and unlike in the past I was fine the next day. Went on with my life.

What I think is pointless is clinging to hopeless pipe dreams. Imagining, dreaming that somehow things will change, despite staring at the reality that they haven't for 30 years, and won't into the foreseeable future. I probably should just butt out, but when I read some of the posts I just can't help myself.

It's sad that you get rewarded for stocking your assistants with people of color. But that's the game that is played in the NFL.
