Ezekiel Elliott Signs With Patriots

Zeke can still do a few things very well. Belichick will use him appropriately. I hope Zeke has a good year (except against the Cowboys). Maybe the Patriots can beat some NFC East rivals.

I doubt he has a "good year." He might have a role for the Patriots but if you're expecting a 1000 yard type rushing performance I doubt it. The Patriots RBs will probably use 4 different RBs and Zeke will get some carries somewhere in there. The fun thing about Bill to is, he won't care how much Zeke makes or what he has done in his career. He will actually have to earn touches or sit on the bench.

No, not a thousand yards. That's behind him. Short yardage pickups when they need the tough yards? He's got that. Pass protection when the defense is bringing heat? He's got that. Multiple short yardage touchdowns? He's probably got that too.

The Pats have to actually get to the 1 yard line for that to matter.

Stevenson is a big body and probably better at short yardage and basically everything than Zeke now, except maybe pass blocking.

I believe Belichick is smart enough to primarily use him as a situational runner. Looking at it on the surface, that's a pretty hefty price tag for someone who will only be used as a short yardage battering ram. So maybe Zeke has a bigger role in the Pats offense than we anticipate. :shrug

Rhamondre Stevenson is a really good short yardage back in his own right. He's a bigger back with great feet and above average running power. Therefore I don't think it's a given that Zeke will get the call on most short yardage situations.

Ooohhh!

How dare you besmirch his honor.

I challenge you to a duel, good sir.

I don't even want to know who he thinks is #1 because I'm gonna lose my shit when I get confirmation that he's even remotely entertaining the thought that Ezekiel Elliot was better than either Tony D or Emmitt.

Yes, I agree with all of that.

The problem is that by the end of the season, that's all he was getting even on 1st and 10 or 2nd and 6 -- just 2 yard run after 2 yard run.

He still has his strength, he just doesn't have any burst or acceleration and his balance is completely gone.

I think he is just old enough to have seen a little of the tail end of Emmitt. Maybe heard his dad talk about him enough. He probably doesn't know how to even spell Dorsett or thinks Walker is just a politician from Georgia.

Yeah even I don't think that.

But he also thinks Romo was better than aikman and staubach.

I'm not sure he's old enough to see the tail end of MBIII.

It was a bit of a comment on LT's claim that Murray was better. So if Zeke is #2...

I know everyone gives LT shit for his high opinion of Murray, but I think Murray was really really good but you can't rate or rank a guy on potential.....you have to put them on what they actually achieved and accomplished.

And there's no doubt that what Zeke did his first 4 years in the league blows Murray's first 4 years away.

However, I do think Murray could've equaled that output, maybe even surpassed it, had he been used the same way Zeke was.

Zeke was fortunate that he came to the Cowboys AFTER Garrett (begrudgingly) began to make more of an effort to incorporate the running game.

Murray played the majority of his Cowboys career for Garrett when the dumbass was a pass-happy moron. Murray had plenty of games when he was killing it on the ground only to finish the game with less than 20 carries or watch his second half carries dwindle for no reason other than Garrett idiotically choosing to keep throwing the ball regardless of the circumstances or situations we were in.
