I didn't remember Tirico did the cheap Berman knockoff routine.
 
I remember that when Walker had that nice run and they showed Emmitt on the sidelines. Emmitt didn’t like getting shown up on his own team and broke it for a long run and score himself
 
Clicked on NFLN for background noise. They are airing a higher def letterbox version of SB X.

It has been a bit since I have watched the whole game.

I can tell you one thing, it was remarkable that team made the Super Bowl.

They were really winging it and had a lot of UDFAs in addition to the Dirty Dozen.

And they had their opportunities early.

Randy Hughes botched the block on Roy Gerela which basically kept Thomas Henderson from scoring on the opening kickoff, for example.

I just got into the second quarter and it is amazing that how old that team was. Jordan, Pugh, Renfro, Edwards were all old and really liabilities at times.
 
Damn, just watching Cliff Harris on these last few plays.

He was tough, but damn, he was a bitch.

He is in the referee's faces constantly and then we all know what happened when he got fucked up by Lambert, which basically changed the tone of the game.
 
Another thing, the quality of the narration with Summerall and Brookshier is so on point.

They were the ones telling you who's back was hurt and all that. Impressive for that time.

Steelers missed many opportunities to turn the game into a rout. Franco dropped a screen pass with blockers in front of him; Gerela missed two makeable FGs; Glen Edwards dropped a pick-six; had to settle for a safety on a blocked punt instead of a touchdown; couldn't punch it in from the 2 after a Mike Wagner interception; and so on.

I am just to the part where Mitch Hoopes nearly had his second punt blocked.
 
Back in those days, the QBs called their own plays.

There were no signals, no voices in a helmet.

I will credit Terry Bradshaw for being smarter than Roger Staubach in this game.

There was a long spell in the 3rd Quarter where Landry decided that yep, slamming Robert Newhouse into the LOS on a draw repeatedly was the secret to defeating that Steelers defense.

That is Jason Garrett-type foolishness.
