Yeah he's being trying to throw Dak under the bus an awful lot. His go to excuse is Dak's salary.

I just wish one of the reporters had the balls to fact check him on the spot and point out that Dak could've been signed for a cheaper salary if he didn't drag things out until the 11th hour.

Also, if he truly felt paying one player $60 million would prevent him from building out a solid roster, then why make the deal? No one put a gun to his head and forced him to give Dak that contract.

IMO, every time he takes a shot at Dak he's taking a shot at himself.

This isn’t your job. I’m not kidding. I’ll get someone else to post here.

I agree I was just telling my father who is a cowboys fanatic like myself that I need to plan my Sundays better …. It’s not worth watching this farce of a franchise … We used to be the franchise everyone used as a measuring stick .. now we are the laughing stock of the NFL .. it’s so disheartening to see the decline happen over the years … it’s like watching someone you love wither away .. it’s overall just really really sad …

I actually don't think he's throwing Dak under the bus when he says those things. I think he's throwing the coaching under the bus.

In his pea brain, the player has already proven he's a top player and Jerry knows he's capable of excellence, otherwise he wouldn't have paid him. So I think he's blaming coaching to not get the player to play better.

The epitome of scapegoating.

Texas Ace said:
And if I got to the point where I just couldn't follow the Cowboys anymore, I wouldn't and couldn't cheer for another team.
I tried that with a couple of different teams during the depths of the Garrett era but couldn't do it.

I did though become more a fan of the league in general than I ever have been, and got more into college football. (Of course imo NIL is ruining that. Sigh.)

Very very key point.
I think it's because he - they - believe they're such amazing drafters that they can replace literally anyone with a cheap draft pick.

And they have drafted pretty well. But it's like to them, the Mazis and the Bossman Fats are not even considered as a possibility. Then when they do happen, they're too slow to admit their mistake.

If that's his line of thinking the dumbass should look about 500 miles north to Kansas City. Even the best QB in the game has been struggling to put points on the board with depleted skill position talent around him.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but just because you have a good QB doesn't mean the GM gets to put his feet up on the desk as if there's no other work to be done to fix the offense.

Back to simp's OP... Is there some plan here, even a misguided one? I haven't looked that deeply into our cap, but some have claimed that there's some cap to be cleared by punting on this year.. Is there any truth to that?

I don't see why it would be true and think it's just being cheap and all the other things we've talked about, but maybe I'm missing something.

It only matters if you think the FO will spend the money or spend it wisely. They haven't shown the capacity of doing that yet.

I think the kind of shitstorm we've seen the last few days can shame them into spending more even if they don't really want to. Jerry bullying those radio guys really pushed a lot of people over the edge.

I just wonder if there's any truth that going cheap this year might help us in the future as they've claimed. I don't think there is, but just want to be sure.

Involves a lot of restructuring but can have a lot of the article is correct (which should be).
