What are we even doing?

Pros:

-One of the better drafting teams in the league over the last 10 years
-We've spent our lives rooting for them

Cons:

-Ownership isn't desperate to win, and in fact only wants to win under their very specific pre-defined conditions
-Ownership's baseline way of operating is to gaslight fans into having false hope, they clearly think the majority of fans are idiots
-Ownership has insulated themselves with what amounts to state-run media, and literally feeds them talking points to ultimately feed to fans
-Ownership has no regard for the game itself and optimizes for optics (i.e. not blocking out the sun during games) over everything else
-Ownership treats the "football environment" as if it's choreographed wrestling (i.e. Jerry stoking the media flames purely for attention)
-Ownership has absolutely no regard for the fans, or seemingly even winning, aside from it being a function of revenue generation

Like yea, I love football and I root for the Cowboys out of habit/muscle memory, but what are we even doing here?

Whoever said it's best to just zone out and laugh at the dysfunction was right.

When you don't do your job in the offseason, it's your fault that you need 20 new players now, ya fucking short-fuse hot-headed shit face.

And at 82 years old now, in ten years, Jerruh will be GMing for their current team longer than most, if not all, of today’s GMs.

I'd like my son to be able to see a Super Bowl or two.
You’ve been viciously anti-Jerry for at least a decade. Did you try to dissuade him from being a Cowboys fan?

I was telling someone that Jerry may be football stupid, but I can't ever remember him just punting on a season before.

It's one thing to sign an Eddie George or trade for Roy Williams, but this year he didn't even try. I can't figure it out.

What is there to do? You either laugh or cry.
Or pick another team to root for who isn’t dysfunctional. I love football, I love watching the game. I had to find a team I could get behind that wasn’t run by a bunch of dipshits so I chose the Chiefs. I love the way their organization is run. I love the way they are always in it, and Andy Reid is about as good a coach as you’ll find. No the deep love and excitement that I’ve grown up with on game day for the Boys isn’t there, but at least I can enjoy the game.

I’m always going to be a Cowboys fan, but until ownership cares I’m not going to care. Jerry freaking out on his radio interview today really seals the deal for me. So narcissistic and thin skinned….he is a joke.

I don't think they've ever gone into a season this pissed off at a HC where they're letting them flail before likely letting them go right after the season.

Parcells left on his own, Phillips was coming off a successful 2009 before cratering in 2010, and Garrett was coming off a successful 2018 before slowly dying out in 2019.

The situation is kind of unprecedented and a combination of Jerry's cheapness (not wanting to get rid of a HC with years left) and the fact that last season ended on a historically disappointing note.

Your kids born and raised in strong Cowboys country, though. For Smitty, myself and many others here, makes sense for those kids to root for the local NFL team (except @Genghis Khan).
Oh, I wasn't talking about my kids.

I was just talking about cheering for a second team in general.

I've never believed in second teams.

There's teams I like (The Longhorns, Mavericks, Astros, Red Sox, etc.) and there's teams I love (The Cowboys).

I think when it's a team you love and are truly passionate about, there's no room in your heart for a second team. You can't even imagine rooting for another team.

And if I got to the point where I just couldn't follow the Cowboys anymore, I wouldn't and couldn't cheer for another team.

I'd just stop watching NFL football in general.

Scapegoating McCarthy so he doesn't lose his fanbase.
