I have grilled venison before and I have had to add some fat, either with bacon or mix with ground beef. Is elk like that?

I don't know. I have never cooked it before. But, I have cooked buffalo burgers before and it was very lean. I tried just on the grill and they dried out bad. I had to do them inside on a skillet in grease.
