You don't have to protect the little brat, do you?

I ain't paying 60 bucks for an escort mission.
Agreed.

I'm really thinking about buying it today to spend my hungover day with, but I sure as hell don't want to protect some stupid little girl. If I have to protect someone please at least make them hot and of legal age...
I just spent several days a few months ago protecting Clementine. Not sure if I am all excited to do it again.
Two things:

First, it's a completely different game from TWD.

Second, all of you will be sorely missing out if you don't play this game. I'm about 3 hours in, and I didn't wanna put it down. I know I'm the gaming nerd here and games don't exactly require a ton to get me interested....:lol.......but this game received a perfect score from multiple sites and I can already get an idea why.

You HAVE to play this game.

Schmitty, without spoiling anything, how far into the game are you?

Actually, let me ask you this - have you yet to meet anyone AFTER Ellie? I just met someone named Bill and that's where I have left off.

That's all the details I'll share so as to not spoil anything at all because the story in this game is outstanding.

I bought it today but haven't played it yet. I was reading that the AI is oblivious to Ellie, so she can never get you killed because she is to slow to get behind cover or something.

Yup, that's exactly right.

So then the answer to it being one giant escort mission is no? That makes it better.

You are escorting her, yes.....but it isn't one of those annoying scenarios like you'd find in a GTA game where you have to keep some character who lags behind from getting shot.

As EZ said, to make up for any possible flaws with the A.I., they just made it to where she cannot get detected. If you get detected, then that is when her cover is blown.

Those GTA missions are the worst. Escort so and so to a point and don't let them get killed. I couldn't give a crap about other characters.

I saved literally at the next available point after .... (edit) Joel and Ellie start by themselves for the second time, right after the Capital building.

To everyone asking, no, you don't have to protect Ellie, the NPCs basically don't die (unless its scripted), but she doesn't really help out much so far either. But one of the complaints is that the NPCs won't even alert clickers (zombies), critics are saying that's dumb game design, but frankly, if I had to worry about someone else other than me alerting a horde of zombies to our presence, it would be ridiculously hard.

Yes, but it kinda has to be that way. The baddies are so devastating that if you stealthed through a section perfectly on your tenth try, and then the AI NPC you are with blows it and you die, you might just break your TV.

Man, what a story in this game.

The story, the characters, the acting.....all top notch. It's movie quality.

I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying this, but it's a lot like the world created in the The Walking Dead in that the infected aren't the only threat. The world has gone to shit and as a result, it brings out the worst in humanity.

Great stuff so far.

It's really awesome quality, but one thing I will say is that the enemy encounters, whether human or infected, are so hard. It's tedious. You can't make a mistake or you are toast. There are sections when I die over and over again.

I am having fun but I can't play for too many hours at a time. I come around a bend and I hear another group of clickers and it's like, eh, I don't have the energy for another round of this right now. I've only got one shiv so I can't simply stealth them all.

Gotta learn how to run around them when possible.

I've learned when to interact, when to stealth, when to shoot, and when to just run the hell outta there.

Yeah, I need to figure that out. I'm still in the kill everything in my way mode. Those clickers are annoying.

Yeah me too. I want to kill everything so then I can get back to searching every nook and cranny. The game really does want you to practice running away though.
