Gee, we had mediocre results even with the great Dez Bryant? Then how was he revolutionizing our passing game like you claimed? Bad point. And then you have the worst WR corp in the NFL and your passing game stinks next year. Which was my point. You're robbing Peter to pay Paul and your offense will still stink. Hell we saw a dramatic improvement in our O-line last year and ended up with very similar results on offense.
In any case, I agree, I'm creating a hole at WR by making this trade, no doubt about it.
I'm saying I'll focus on rebuilding my team going forward (you'll notice in my original post, I said "this signals a complete rebuild, start pawning off other assets too") by building around the lines. I can build a solid WR corps by adding a guy in the mid rounds like Brandon Cooks, Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff, or Bruce Ellington. Add one of them to go with Terrance Williams, Dwayne Harris, and Cole Beasley, and you have a WR corps that isn't bare bones, at least. It lacks a true #1, but teams like the Pats have got by for years without one. Williams and say, Cooks, are both legit starting WRs in this league as well, it's not like our situation in 2008 when we had Terrell Owens and nothing else.
Yes, that WR corps has taken a step back, but the step forward I've taken with the OL makes up for it. I can put together the better team GOING FORWARD with this approach, even though my team this year isn't as good without Dez.
In any case, it's all a worthless hypo, since no one would ever overpay for Dez by that much.
