This is all hypothetical and wouldn't happen, so I won't even entertain the idea.
If Jerry changed today and stepped aside, then I'd be all for rebuilding this team and would even be willing to listen to offers for Dez. But that's not what's happening nor is it going to.
A true rebuild consists of taking a QB in the first 2 rounds of the draft, and Jerry Jones still views Romo as an in-his-prime 27 year old, so you can forget that idea too.
So since we aren't going to be going through the proper process of a rebuild, then there's no sense in trading the one elite playmaker we have who also happens to have the most passion for winning that we've seen around here since Michael Irvin.
Well, yeah, no one is gonna give up a top 5 pick and another premium pick for Dez, most likely.
But if they did, I would do it even without Romo being shuffled off. Dez is a great, great player, but if you acknowledge that this team isn't compete-ready, then Dez is really of minimal importance. We don't need game-breaking to put us over the top, we need a team that is built properly from the foundations.
Dez is icing. I would trade him in for an equivalent piece of cake in Robinson, Matthews, or Clowney, especially if we are getting sweetner in the form of a 2nd round pick too.
