The aliens have had enough of our stupid shit.

"The bursts of radio energy appear to have come from a magnetar, or a star with a very powerful magnetic field, the scientists who discovered the new FRBs said."

I'm torn on this.
me too, in theory I think people should be able to do whatever they want to themselves, drugs, suicide, etc

the problem is what happens when addiction takes over and they cant support their habit with the income from their job (if they had or still have one) plus young folks who do these drugs while their brains are still developing

I'm sure there are many other issues I'm not considering but I've never liked the idea of putting people in prison for drug use

I wonder how much would change if they all became free and legal. I wouldn't start doing drugs just because they're legal, I have zero desire to and never will. But based on the show Prohibition, people might lose their minds, especially if companies could push their products the way beer companies did back in the day when they operated bars

a ying for every yang I suppose

I am torn, as well to a degree. I am what you would call a libertarian and thinkg government should stay the hell out of our lives. At the same time, if you let people run wild with this shit you could see much more theft, shootings (from the underground trying to keep up with the free market) and hospital and government resources being overrun with trying to treat and rehabilitate these assholes.

I lean towards this being a very very bad idea.

It's been my experience that consequences, or at least the fear of them, are usually necessary. If their hope is that this will increase opportunities for treatment, it won't. The system will get exploited and addicts will use it to their advantage. Don't get me wrong, I believe in treating addicts but there must be the threat of consequences for it be effective most times.

I think the idea is that addicts are going to use regardless of a threat of prison. And I can see a bit of both ways. I've dealt with plenty of drug addicts that know they will go to jail with a dirty UA but use anyway. But I've also seen some with criminal drug charges who legitimately turn their lives around knowing that if they don't they will end up in prison. In the end a person has to change because they want to but sometimes the threat of jail is what shows them they have to better themselves. Without it they assume they can still do both (live life and do drugs), all while their lives are falling apart from the drug use.

Don't worry Biden will fix this...
If Biden wins,Yep their boss will say stop. No more. The boss being who writes the checks to these goons. The Covid stats will also go down to prop up the magical powers of the new President. A lot of the dem created problems that were contrived will find ways to provide more propaganda for the wonderful answers to the problems they created to lay at Trumps feet

This won’t all happen immediately but it will have schedule that makes it look like the new regime caused it to happen. The Dems are way better then the Republicans in scheming and propaganda plus the media is essentially their conduit for them.

I am very curious to see what Antifa does now. If they suddenly disappear it's going to be a pretty clear and obvious connection they were just a terroristic tool of the Democrats. Afterall why would they stop? Police violence, racism, and everything else is exactly the same. And if they do continue it's going to be pretty funny to see how the Democrats handle it now as opposed to how they handled it while Trump was in office. Again, it's going to be pretty telling.

Hell, they activated the National Guard in Portland just today. Weird coincidence that they wouldn't let the NG come in for 6 months and now all of sudden it's okay to have them.
