You think that is where I was going. Not even close.

You seem to think that all these issues are just now coming to the surface. The history of the world is that a civilation has oppressed another segment of people and it hasn't always been the black race that were the oppressed. Today's circumstances are actually about one group of people who thinks they are oppressed by a country that wil not give them equality when the opposite is true. Reverting back to prior circumstances to draw the hatred to a boiling point in order to blame the current society is just not acceptable.

And I'm not aware of employers who require you to give up (or suspend) your right to carry a firearm on the job, at least not in Texas where I live. Some locations are exempted out from the open carry rules, but that's by legislation (the government), not by the employer...
Like most of the dumb shit you've tried to argue this is patently untrue . . . even in Texas. Feel free to look it up.

Yeah, he's full of shit. I don't know for sure about other states, but that's certainly true in North Dakota and Montana.

It's the same in Texas.

Okay.... sort of back on topic.

If this hasn't been discussed - what's the next step?

The "protest" has everyone's attention - although most shun it. Still what's next? Do these activists still keep taking a knee and that's it? Or do they have a plan to further the discussion, per se?
Exactly what I was saying yesterday. What about solutions?

That's the difference between you and me. It's subjective to label something offensive. You're apparently fine with leaving the status of one's employment up to maybe one person's opinion as to whether something that person said is offensive or not. That's a standard that's rife with potential for abuse, and that's not how I think this country and employers in it should operate. I tend to think about the unintended consequences of certain actions.
Not really a difference as I was likely unclear. I have a problem with opinions being the crux of terminations or disciplines as well. Many times those are the basis for Sexual harassment or hostile work place cases. But, and maybe this is where the prior consent thing comes in, if guidelines had been established that he overstepped or disobeyed. But again, from what little I know that wasn't the case with the Google guy. It was an opinion piece based on his field of expertise that other employees read?

Really? What word would you use? If you shit all over my values at an event where politics shouldn't be present, should I feel happy about it?
Just cause you're not happy about it doesn't mean it's abuse, or assault, or whatever other trigger word you want to throw out there hyperbolically.

Of course there's racism and injustice. Just ask a black conservative or a high-achieving Asian student trying to get into Harvard.
So your comment that Kaep has no point is untrue.

Actually, there's no moral difference. They're both outrageous and deserve your contempt. If someone does something offensive like denigrating the flag or slurring cops, is that likely to draw more people to their cause or less? I'm guessing the latter.
There's absoutely a difference. And what is offensive and what's not is a matter of opinion. Maybe the snowflakes need to grow a thicker skin.

And if that's the case, I would be against that as well. I would be against prior restraints on speech in the workplace, and I would be against someone being fired only for things said outside the workplace.

I said I wasn't aware of it... There are a lot of new laws regarding open carry. You're right. Mea culpa.

Gun rights are a particularly sensitive and ever-changing area of the law. Not a lot changes in the area of free speech.

I think Pep misunderstood or just chose to ignore your point here. The racism and injustice the athletes are protesting against and supporting is on it's way out and has been for generations. The number of people who subscribe to a white supremacist, minority hating dogma are a smaller number than conservative democrats and dwindling every day.
But, the true racism, injustice, and intolerance comes from the left and their pure hatred for any minority that has strayed from the victimization, we are oppressed, Rs hate everyone, you can't do it without government help, all things that you do are ok, so all things that make you different make you a minority so you're struggle should equate to black civil rights struggles, mentality. And even if you disagree with them on any topic you are now branded a racist, because we all know that's where all disagreement with the left comes from. I hope I helped explain some.

See, I'm not against some prior restraints. For instance, in my department, there are general orders against stumping for candidates in uniform or while on duty, I couldn't go around calling black folk the N word while in the course of my duties, someone shouldn't be allowed to talk about the latest porn flick they watched in graphic detail. Small examples that should get someone fired. My writing a paper on why gender gaps in a particular field do not always imply gender bias, is not something that should get a man fired. Yet, Google did.

Not at all. Conceding that individual racism exists does not prove his point about "systemic racism" or a pattern of abuse by cops.

You know what's ironic about that meme? The same people who slammed her for defying federal law are now defying federal law like crazy when to comes to illegal immigrants and sanctuary cities. Why it's almost as if they're a bunch of hypocrites.
