Yeah I'm with you, it's a word that gets thrown around way too often to describe someone whose opinion you don't like. Hell they did it with Donald Trump many times and that didn't even make sense.
There seem to be words that get thrown around so often that they just sort of lose meaning. It's like white privilege. It has been so overused for situations that it doesn't apply to that the words have basically lost meaning or impact.
As far as Gates is concerned he views himself as an elite who wants everyone else to live a certain way while as an elite he gets to continue living his uninterrupted lifestyle. Truthfully I think he is more just a hypocrite than anything. Although I get the fascist term because of his "globalistic opinions" where he basically wants people to abandon free economy and live a certain way for the greater good. While Bill Gates of course is exempt from that.
Good to know I'm not alone on the facist front, I thought I was losing my mind because I didn't think I said anything that crazy
and
if* Bill is guilty of everything you describe, then I understand why you and jsmith and anyone else would have a visceral reaction to him and his views
* I use the word "if" not to imply you're wrong but because I want to do my own homework because all too often these days, I get told something by folks from both sides of an issue, get linked to a book or article and find the link/book I was given doesnt substantiate the clam and may do the opposite. Ex: I can't tell you how many times I was told Trump was a racist but couldn't or wouldn't explain why and then they told me he wont disavow racism/racists and then I find a myriad of videos where he does exactly what they say he didn't say.
