To be clear I didn't think for a second he wanted to do either on the jew/swaistica frontI didn't and wouldn't call him that, but I can see where jsmith is coming from. Any time government and business merge to exert dictatorial control over the people, that's fascism. It's hard to not immediately associate it with Hitler and company, but that's technically what it is. (I know there are all kinds of banal sophomoric arguments about Fascism vs Communism etc all over the internet, but that's a simplistic definition.)
I don't think he was claiming Gates wanted to wear a swastika and kill Jews.
I would hope by now people can see I am vehemently opposed to government involvement in our lives except for the absolute minimum and then I expect it to be effective and highly functional (pipe dream)
I'm also a WW2 nut and know there were a lot of sacrifices people made in this country to help win that war which would probably be construed as facist under the current climate or at least by some folks in this country so I'm left wondering when and how we can cooperate for the greater good but I'm not sure thats possible anymore because it seems someone is always losing their mind over any issue
I realize many folks feel being concerned over the climate is bullshit and maybe it is on the extremes but protecting water ways, preserving spaces like Yellowstone, Central Park etc were good decisions imo. I only wish they could have stopped the clear cutting of the redwood forest earlier so as much as I despise government interference in our lives, sometimes its effective and beneficial to all and I want that to occur for all legitimate issues. I also would love to see the US 100% energy independent due to some type of fuel utilized or discovered because, regardless of climate change, fossil fuels wont last forever.
I haven't thoroughly studied it but I'm open to the effects of how the foods we consume and vehicles we drive effect the environment. Its clear it does on some level as smog used to be horrific in the 70's and its vastly improved due to required changes.
I cant stand on a soap box and definitively say what should or shouldn't be done because I don't know everything there is to know about all subjects to speak in such absolute terms but I strive to learn, ask a lot of questions and become more informed but unfortunately my mindset make some folks feel I'm being obtuse but c'est la vie, I'm still going to keep asking as I dont know any other way to become more informed.
I just hope those in the know will continue to share whatever facts and knowledge they have gathered regardless of how they may feel about me and realize my goal is greater understanding not pointless internet squabbles or personal attacks
