I must say, it's pretty cool seeing how much people around the world admire the president of El Salvador.

A little context here...

Of all the things he's accomplished in El Salvador, the thing most people around the world are impressed by was how they turned such a dangerous, gang-infested country into one of the safest ones.

Here, he is explaining one of the many times he had to fight against popular opinion or advice from "experts" on why he couldn't do this or why he shouldn't do that.

This particular vid is in regards to his approach to fighting crime when he first got into office.

And what one of these international advisors told him was that he couldn't attack and eliminate crime as quickly as he wanted to because it would hurt the economy. And in this discourse, he shares the reasons why it was supposed to hurt the economy but he didn't give a shit and was determined to fight it and eliminate it as quickly as possible despite the warnings of how it would negatively affect the country's economy.

He then explains his counter arguments and why he chose to do it anyway and how everything turned out in the end.

Enjoy. :art

That's such an absurd and dumb argument because that money that "criminals spend" is money that belongs to other people that would have been spent by those other people.

The whole point of money is that it represents productive work that contributes to society. Money that's gained through criminal activity is not productive, and actually usurps productive work. It has a deleterious effect on society.

And, eliminating the ability of those 70,000 criminals to commit crimes forces them to do more productive things, because they're not going to not just not eat or whatever.

That's not even counting the criminals who specifically commit murder, which more often than not takes a productive member of society off the workforce and would himself be spending into the economy.

Oh yes, she is so great. She's the one herding Biden back when he got distracted and wandered away from the herd right before he quit.
