My point was that agencies themselves are calling out the risk of the emails being read by "malign actors", presumably because the email server that they just set up at OPM 5 weeks ago or whatever is relatively halfassed according to what's been reported.

Clearly there's a national security concern when all of the primary national security agencies, all headed by Trump appointees, pushed back on it.
Honestly, it really doesn't take long to set up an email server. Even with firewalls, antivirus clients and everything else involved it is pretty easy to do. Seeing as though many of the government employees think having to tell someone they did something productive, is beneath them, I would also think some of those might even talk out their asses about how much security their email server has. Just guessing though. But again, they were specifically instructed not to send anything security related, so it's kind of irrelevant.

It's a ridiculous criticism because it's already been made clear that they aren't asking for sensitive information and almost anything will be acceptable.

There's no national security concern about:

  • Met with my supervisor
  • Participated in meeting with staff
  • Emailed supervisor for clarification on a question

Etc.

It's a nonsense criticism from people who are just looking for a reason because they have already decided that they hate it (most likely for partisan reasons).
Yep, exactly this.

Although you know there would be some brown nosers who would write a 30 page letter to explain all that they did overly detailed. Just how some people are. Of course you know there would also be an equal part who pay so little attention to their job that they would never reply.

If you don't think there are government employees who do little to nothing in their jobs, I think you bury your head in the sand.

I'm not saying the tasks are the concern necessarily, the concern is that a foreign actor could basically build org charts of hundreds of thousands or millions of government employees and then look for opportunities to infiltrate from there.

If they can do that, why wouldn't they already have done it?

Yeah, I guarantee that our enemies have already infiltrated us enough to already know all that stuff plus a lot, lot more.

Because people are worried that this external email system they're using is insecure, it's not a coincidence that basically all of the national security agencies said "nope", with another specifically calling out "malign actors".

Why would agencies all headed by Trump appointees take this stance unless there was legit concern?

This is literally not a hard concept to grasp.

"The email could simply be, what I'm working on is too sensitive or too classified to describe. That would be sufficient. This is just common sense."

Elon has basically said it doesn't matter what is in the email. It's just intended to make sure that you're a real person, still alive and still show up for work.

He's a mental case. The guy has no ability to be rational, he jumps around on a stage like a lunatic, cannot process any sort of critical thinking, the list goes on. Who the fuck sends some college dropouts into the IRS and other institutions to determine for him what needs to be cut? Only a fucking mental case. If Biden or Harris had done that, you'd be saying the same thing, and would be absolutely correct.
I have heard/read several sources that say he is on the Spectrum... Assuming this is true, it would certainly explain why his emotions sometimes get the better of him. It would also explain his incredibly high IQ and supercharged work ethic.

Just like with the cutting of fraud and waste, the people who object are objecting because they don’t want oversight and accountability at all, the end, and that’s their only reason.

Or they are mindless brainwashed drones like a certain board member.

There is no feeling of need to be accountable in the public sector.
