Why are they not on American infrastructure?

So it's fine for them to put the tariffs on us, but the second we put the exact same ones on them, it's like some act of war.

Why are they not on American infrastructure?

It's one of the few things they can leverage against us but it won't be enough. And while people in those states may have to pay more for electricity in the short-term, in the long-term, Trump will get what he wants. They need us far more than we need them.

I understand that people do not like tariffs, I am not a huge fan myself, but I do understand their usefulness in certain circumstances... But what is happening with them with regard to Canada, Mexico, and China has nothing to do with trade, it has everything to do with fentanyl. All these countries need to do to get these tariffs to go away is to make a concerted effort to reduce or stem the flow of fentanyl into the US. Trump campaigned on this, so they either thought he was not going to win or that he was lying... Since his last administration the amount of that drug coming into this country through their borders has increased exponentially, so if anyone has any other suggestions on how to reverse that trend they're keeping it to themselves.

The amount of fentanyl that comes from Canada is under 1%, almost all of it comes from Mexico. So if fentanyl is the reason for Canadian tariffs it does not square with the facts.

It's not just about fentanyl. It's also about getting reciprocal trade agreements. We've been getting the shit end of the stick for way too long.

Exactly. It's funny watching them piss and moan about it, but exactly how long were we supposed to let them keep slapping big tariffs on us and not retaliate? Now, the reality of the situation as I see it is, these tariffs won't be there for very long. I think it's just a told Trump is using to get us a better deal, and to stop some of the border crossings and drugs.

They won't be able to hold out for long. We take in 19% of their exports and 37% of Mexico's. This is just posturing so they don't feel like complete punks. But they are. And they're about to feel these American nuts on their foreheads.

Yes, and what we export to both nations combined represents like 2.7% if I am not mistaken. It would be vastly easier for both to just negotiate with us and at least TRY to help stop the border shit.
