You didn't read much of this then.
What the heck did you think he was going to get? League minimum or something? His deal is not out of line with what Gurley and Bell got and in some ways is actually better for the team, than theirs was.
Yeah, because the only alternative to Gurley money is league minimum. Come on, now.
It's a position that is demonstrated via analytics to have less impact on winning on today's league. On top of that, we've had to invest highly in the OL to maximize this return, but that's costing a ton too.
We have had Elliott's back through thick and thin, yet when it came down to it, Elliott was gonna miss games if he couldn't get "top RB in the league" money. And he got it, every cent of it.
Isn't winning important to him? What about the rest of the team?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not singling out Elliott. I will trash Prescott the same way when he gets his $40m a year deal, which there is absolutely precedent now to support that Jerry will give him every red cent he asks for... as he's now done with Lawrence AND Elliott.
The guys like Jaylon Smith and La'el Collins, who accept team friendly-ish deals, should be the paragons here.
Not Elliott.
Yeah, he got his. Thanks for taking us for everything, buddy.
I don't care that "he got his money." It's the salary cap that is concerning, not Jerry's limitless supply of money.
When players and agents say "It's not my job," to manage the cap, that's a cop out and an excuse for greed. The simple fact is, they are putting themselves ahead of winning when they demand to be paid as the very, very best.
It sucks and there's no other way to say it.
Give me a soft cap and you will hear no complaining from me.
