Unless there was a no brainer QB I think I would too.
Right now the best QB might he the kid from Indiana. Did anyone have that on their bingo card? I'll be watching him rip the Hawkeyes a new one tonight.

The guy who seems to be leading in the Dlineman group in the draft right now seems to be Bain out of Miami. But still lots of football left.

I'm always happy for a good trade down and stocking picks personally. The NFL is all about being loaded with talent in thebfirst 5 years of a contract.

Yep, exactly. Obviously a sure fire franchise QB changes everything but beyond that I think we could probably ride Dak for the next few years if the roster is loaded.

Yeah I remember when they filled the team with talent when Dak had his rookie contract.

As great as Parsons is, one position player isn't going to change everything (outside of franchise QB) so you're better off stockpiling picks and loading up on talented players. Let someone else take a DE at number one just hoping they get the next Parsons.

2027 will make more sense to do something like that more than likely. But never look a gift horse in the mouth if you think a QB is a stud.
I'm fine with waiting a year, and in fact I expect it.

But that would be, what, 11 years with the same QB who hasn't won anything. No, it's not all his fault, but that's more than long enough.

He was in the conversation, still a long way to go though.

If we end up top 5 I think I'm just taking Downs unless a QB prospect is undeniable. Woods would be in there too if he gets back to form.

Me if we don't use these four first rounders to get a new QB...

:window

One of the things I'm saying is that unless the top QB is a no brainer, I'd rather take a QB later in the first with one of our four firsts. I'm not sure the bust rate is all that worse in the middle of the first for QBs. Obviously if there's an unquestionable franchise guy you take him, but teams get in trouble by taking a QB just to take one. I'd rather have the extra picks.

One interesting point of conversation for me is what if we end up around 5-7 and Jordyn Tyson looks like one of the top guys available?

I'd be fine letting Pickens go, spending that money (20-30/year presumably) on the front 7 and taking a guy like Tyson who seems to be one of the best prospects in the draft.

That would require these bumpkins signing an external FA to a big deal, which is obviously about as likely as me becoming the GM of this God forsaken team.

So like a Dart type?

I'd be okay with that. I'd rather use the extra first to trade up to the top 10, 7, 5 whatever (depending on where our own pick is) to get a really top prospect, but if that's not possible a more developmental guy is fine. Just don't sell us on Dak going into his 12th year of going 2-5 in the playoffs and it's been eight years since he last won a playoff game.

We may not need to trade to get in the top 10 the way the defense is playing.

I'm down for about anything except another first round Olineman...

Hell usually I'm very against a safety high in the draft but the way Wilson has played, I'm not even against a dynamic safety.

Imagine having 3 1st rd picks and 2 2nd round picks in 2024. We could parlay that kind of flexibility over several drafts.

If we resign Pickens we obviously can't go WR, but yea aside from that I'm open to about anything.

And Downs looks like the most sure-fire bet to be a HOF'er in this class so if he's there at 4 or 8 or whatever, I'd be perfectly fine with it.
