It took unusually bad offensive performances by the bench and Tatum for GWS to win the series. Just some average offensive numbers 7in the 3Q's and by Tatum in the 4th gets the job done. My guess is they got a little tired from multiple 7 game series, but that's just excuse making. They blew it.You were saying?
Perhaps although they would've definitely lost to Milwaukee if they had Middleton, so them winning it all would've been pretty flukey. It took unusually bad offensive performances by the bench and Tatum for GWS to win the series. More or less, if not for that very flukey 4th quarter comeback in game 1 I think it would've been over in 5. The Warriors blew them out pretty good in games 2, 5 and 6, whereas Boston only dominated one game (3) and won game 1 on an extremely well-timed ridiculous hot streak.I just think the better team won.
Also, the Celtics inability to take advantage of stretches of GSW cold streaks or periods where Steph was on the bench killed them. There were several crucial stretches where Boston would go on mini runs but they couldn't stretch the lead out to double digits, or if trailing, cut it to a 1 or 2 possession game. Mainly because they'd constantly shoot themselves in the foot with terrible shots and turnovers. They were their own worst enemy, IMO.More or less, if not for that very flukey 4th quarter comeback in game 1 I think it would've been over in 5. They went on a similar hot streak in game 5 but it was early enough that the Warriors had enough time to overcome it while in game 1 it happened at the exact perfect time to where the Warriors seemed shell-shocked and just went into the fetal position, and before you knew it there were just 3 minutes left.
Yea they don't have a real facilitator on offense. Tatum and Brown are mostly looking for their own shot and Smart isn't a true PG by any means. Also, the Celtics inability to take advantage of stretches of GSW cold streaks or periods where Steph was on the bench killed them. That line is the story of the series. Steph's shot making was absolutely ridiculous, but Boston's inability to get quality offensive possessions because of turnovers was the key. It was the key to anyone beating them all playoffs long, but they were able to bounce back time and again. You just can't give a team with so much offensive firepower easy transition buckets and it cost them against GSW.Also, the Celtics inability to take advantage of stretches of GSW cold streaks or periods where Steph was on the bench killed them.
