As expected the Thunder are 0-2 without Kanter. Granted they played tough teams in Cleveland and San Antonio, but they weren't even competitive.

Last night's game was so bad I threw in the towel with about 5 minutes to play before halftime. They were down 18 and only had about 21 points at that point in the game. Apparently they finally got their shit together in the 3rd quarter and actually took a brief lead before pissing down their leg in the 4th quarter.

The 17 minutes of the game that I did watch was some of the worst basketball I've ever seen. They looked like a group of 8 year olds playing a game of pickup basketball at the park. Between all the careless turnovers and bad shots, they literally went a good 5 minutes without even getting shot up that touched rim.

That's why I'd hold out for both Nets picks, the added benefit of trading Butler would then be that the Bulls should get a top 8 or so pick this year, as well as next year. The 17 Nets pick and Jaylen Brown might be something to consider but I'd still push for the two Brooklyn picks.

It's laughable honestly to think the Celtics would balk at a deal involving just the 17 pick. Butler makes them a clear top 5 team in the league over the next 3-4 years, LeBron is 32 now, you have to imagine that he will start a slow decline soon and that might be enough to make Boston the favorites in the East either next season or the year after with Butler/Thomas in their prime and Horford on the back end of his prime.
Bulls are a hair away from getting that Sacramento pick at #11 overall too.

Go into the draft with #1 overall, #8 overall, and #11 overall?

While having unloaded Wade and Butler's contracts and probably find takers for Lopez and Gibson later?

That's a quick rebuild.

Is it just me or does it seem like teams that have multiple lottery picks and are positioned to have a franchise changing draft, tend to whiff on the draft......badly.

There are two instances that immediately come to mind.

The 2001 Bulls, when they had the #2 & #4 pick and they walked away with Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler.

The 1997 Celtics, had 2 top ten picks and walked away with Chauncey Billups and Ron Mercer.

If the Bulls trade Butler for the Nets pick there is almost a 100% chance that they end up with a pick in the top 3 and another in the top 10, whether or not the Kings pick ends up outside the top 10 is anybody's guess, but the chances of the other two picks are very likely.

Think the NBA draft in general can't be counted on to produce superstars from high picks reliably.

Other than Pau Gasol you could argue Tyson Chandler was the best top 10 pick in that draft.

Not much else in that top 9 at least that would have served them better. Jason Richardson maybe. Disagana Diop? Shane Battier? Meh.

And that's still not the #1 pick.

And with lottery you are hoping for best case scenario yes it could happen just not very likely.

Yea but the difference between 1/8 and 3/9 or 2/7 is negligible.

The point is it'd be a top 3 pick and another pick at the back end of the top 10, in this talented a draft class a competent front office could lay the foundation for the next 10 years with that.

Obviously that isn't the Bulls front office though, and no matter what they do if they keep Forman/Paxson and the same toxic, fucked up management structure the team will never succeed in anything.

The Nets pick isn't the odds on favorite for first overall right now?

The Sixers have had the highest odds over the last 3 years and have never gotten the top pick until last year.
Completely untrue. Sixers had the highest odds exactly once, and got the first pick with it.

They were only the worst record one time during that period.

My bad I just took for granted they had the lowest wins over the last 3 years.

Need to go and look at how the lowest wins and getting the 1st pick have coincided.

I would have assumed the Sixers had the worst NBA record for 3 straight years as well.

It seemed like every year the talk was of them potentially challenging the NBA's all-time loss record.

They had

19 wins
18 wins
10 wins

The last 3 seasons before this season. Last year was particularly bad, but the prior 2 seasons were nowhere close to the record. If anyone talked about the loss record before last season it was unfounded.

The Sixers are in deep talks to send forward-center Jahlil Okafor to the Pelicans, a source told @theundefeated. New Orleans could send center Alex Ajinca and a future 1st rounder back. USA Today 1st broke the story.

Yeah that does seem to be selling low, but there are now reports Holiday might be going back to Philly in a bigger deal.
