It's been a long time since I read any but weren't dwarf females supposed to have beards too?
Not necessarily. Tolkien was very ambiguous about dwarf women in general, but that’s cause they are even more rare than male dwarves themselves. So of course the show puts one of these front and center.

So tranny dwarves is what Tolkien was thinking of?

Not Hobbits, thay would just be silly. Hobbits can only be homosexual. Dwarves are the trannys.

Although the male elves can be a bit feminine...

I am not trying to be hurtful or rude.

But understanding this about you really changes things.

At least Tolkienian elves ,and those modeled after them, were described as and intended for both genders to be “beautiful”. Most times that comes across as the males being feminine.

What a surprise, it’s terrible.

Have you watched any of it yet? Curious to see everyone's thoughts? The genders and skin colors haven't bothered me at all. I have been very confused at times. Some shots are stunning while other scenes a bit cheesy. Overall though I think it's been solid. I'm still watching.

It's interesting because we all kind of know where this thing ends up but this isn't directly from a book so a lot of the characters are still question marks. And you don't really know where it will go from episode to episode.

Im still watching and think its ok. The harfoots annoy me so I hate those scenes. Im guessing that is Gandalf with them. Just seems a little slow to me on getting where they are going.

I agree, I feel nothing for the harfoots plus their outfits are a little too cartoonish for my taste. I get what they are trying to do but they just look dumb to me. And I'm hoping it's not Gandolph. I'm thinking another wizard makes more sense such as Radagast.

I am not watching it and I won’t. At least not yet. Maybe someday when the hype is over and giving them a smidge to their view count won’t matter to it’s profitability.

Unless they add a disclaimer that they are deliberately misrepresenting Tolkien and that they wanted to tell a multicultural non-Tolkien story that is loosely based on Tolkien’s IPs, then I might give them a chance.

I got it but I would be curious to hear your opinion since you felt so strongly before it came out. I like the black elf. I don't care for the harfoots so the color of their skin would make no difference. Male and female characters so far seems fine to me. The fighting skills of Galadriel are kind of dumb but it's a small complaint.

Well Gandalf always liked the hobbits so it would fit. In a way Radagast would as well but I think he is too tall for Radagast.

Yeah you're probably right. Plus Gandolph would get all the LOR fans more hyped up.

It is very obviously “not-Tolkien”. It doesn’t have the depth or grandeur feel of the LOTR movies. It just seems like a decent swords and sorcery story that is trying to allude to history that hasn’t been developed.

I hate to admit it, but I think Joe Dirt is very underrated.
